I read through all these threads about the changing of the name, and the new ads, and the dropping of iDEN. Some of you people are freaking idiots... I'm sorry, but its true.

Seriously, lets just talk about some of the stupidity oozing from your finger tips...

1. Sue Sprint because of the name change to the Cup series? Holy crap... as pointed out by the few non-idiots in the discussion... Sprint is paying a very large price to sponsor the series... which allowed for a cup title change to occur once during 10 years. (You think they might have known this was coming?) The agreement also stated that wireless companies couldn't update their names... its called being grandfathered in... if they sponsor a car, they need to play by the rules o...

Last time I checked, when Sprint goes toe-to-toe with AT&T in the courtroom...their track record is pretty dismal. AT&T is waaaay too powerful of a company to not get what they want...right or wrong.

Rack up another point for AT&T. We'll just have to wait and see who gets the shaft. 😉

thanks for responding intelligently. I can't say that I agree with you on your theories and statements. Well, at least not all of them... I do agree about the customer service needs to improve. But I think perception from consumers will change as marketing is improved over the next few months. Dropping the nextel name will help in creating a brand consumers can understand. It will piss people off sure... so did Cingular and then att, but they were better afterwards. I would bet you see the company improve a lot over the next year... I'm too sleepy to respond to everything so maybe I'll talk some more later... goodnight phonescoop.

I personally don't care if they call the company "sliced bread", as long as my services work and I don't have to pay more money (like I'm now doing with my old BellSouth service since at&t)

I guess my point was that people who bought Nextel service did so because that's what they wanted. If Sprint does away with not only their network, but also the name, then people who subscribed to Nextel originally will see it as the end of that service completely, thus negating any reason to stay with the new company.

I don't think that branding everything under "Sprint", including the walkie-talkie services will be a successful idea, nor do I see the two separate brands as being their current problem. I doubt very seriously that anyone who owns a ...

😁 Very well put. I was actually digging through h some old magazines. Consumer Reports Feb. 2004- Nextel- has the lowest turnover rate with 21%, fewer problems than most with call connections, and average customer support.
Sprint-35% turnover rate, T-Mobile is the only company with a higher one, dropped calls and customer support have been a problem.
On the ratings per city, granted Nextel does not cover them all, however the ones they do cover they are never the bottom company, however sprint 4/12 cities gets the worst ratings. 10/12 they are in the bottom two.

Another reason Sprint bought nextel, if you guys want, i'll try to find the thing i wrote. Basically it was this, consider, PTT is what has gotten nextel close to 17 million...
