actually the SIM is internal and cannot be removed...that is why the iPhone must be activated either through iTunes or at an at&t mobility location.

Yeah. Switching the SIM just requires sticking a pin or a paperclip into a little hole in the top, and out pops the SIM tray. 😛

That said, the phone does have restrictions against SIM swapping. You can take your SIM out of it, and put it into another phone, but don't expect visual voicemail to work. However don't expect to be able to just put any other SIM into it. It'll only read the one that's paired with its IMEI, apparently.

The I-phone has a SIM card. You won't be able to take the sim from your other phone and just place it in the I-Phone. The I-phone data feature is $20, and the phone CANNOT be used at all without it. Customer will have to activate the phone with the IMEI at home, where they will add the $20 feature. So if the phone is ever stolen no one will be able to use it. If they try to call in and add the feature, the CSR will see that the phone was activated under another number, and that person is screwed

At first, I read that the SIM card was not removable. Now I see there are reports that the SIM card slot is at the top of the device. Apparently, at the January keynote, there was a picture of an arrow pointing to a slot at the top. Search the Web for pics.

Yes the Iphone comes with it's own SIM card, and that has to be activated. You won't be able to use your current SIM card with it.
