I think T-mobile should by DObson Cellular System since it would give them more coverage in several states as well as more 850MHz band coverage.

T-Mobile might be a good fit. I think SunCom would be better geographically. The 2 combined would be over 2.5 mill customers and could compete better against the big 3.

I am not sure whether Deutsche Telekom would be interested in acquiring Dobson. It has been rumored at times that they were looking into selling or spinning off T-Mobile USA, although Deutsche Telekom denies it. Still, I don't see them really looking into making anymore U.S. buyouts.

Agree! And with their venture into 1700 3g they'll be kept busy getting that going.

T-Mobile might weight their options as to see which is cheaper. That being, is it cheaper to buy a regional carrier, or to keep paying them roaming agreements.

Despite the rumors, I'd be very surprised if Deutsche Telekom sold off T-Mobile USA. Even with all the frustrations that European phone companies have with Americans, the US is still a lucrative market.

I don't feel ill towards the european telcomms but they they think they should be playing according to their rules, but this is not the .eu and they have to play according to our rules.

This is not a right or wrong, and I'm sure both have valid issues. But it wasn't the North American markets the banned compeating technology and monopolized one digital standard.

In fairness to the European standard, they had to do something to unify mobile usage across the continent. With the nations being smaller, and with travel between them being common, it wouldn't have made sense for them to not do so.

The US equivalent would be having to use different phones and/or services every time you traveled to another state.

Yea but $3.8 billion is a lot of money just for acquiring some more POPs, 1.2 million customers, and more spectrum. Plus they already have a roaming agreement.

I doubt Deuthsche Telekon will sell Tmobile USA because a good chunk of DT profits comes from Tmobile USA. This will definately be a good investment for tmobile. ATT is still dealing with their recent mergers. The FCC probably will not be too kind to allow them to merge or buyout another company. They are now becomming one big coglomerate. But if tmobile want to grow competively with the other carriers they might want to start thinking about buying Dobson, Suncomm, and previus Altell GSM network.

Buying Dobson would be a good way for T-Mobile to expand their footprint in some rural areas. Plus like someone else mentioned, T-Mobile would get their hands on some 850 band licenses. I'm not su...
