its possible. But who ISNT going to use all of the functions of that phone. Good luck keeping your phone charged without hookin it up to a car charger during the day.

i don't think a single phone out there meets its manufacturer's claimed talk time. it's under ideal conditions. but if apple's claim is an overestimate to the same degree (not too huge) that most manufacturers are, then it's still pretty impressive.

hey my ipod still last 8-9hrs on a full charge after a year, so I have no doubt that apple could incorporate that same great battery functunality into their phones.

I think the iphone will take a lot more battery lfe then an ipod. Especially with it's high resolution 320 by 480 pixels (160 ppi)screen. I sell multi carriers (Sprint, T-mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Amp'd, Disney, Helio) and no phones that I sell besides some nokias with t-mobile have 8hrs. of talk time.

I doubt a pocketpc will have that much talk time. I'm very optimistic with the new iphone coming out but I'm also a realist. ๐Ÿคจ

Obviously it depends what you're doing. Talking with the lcd dimmed is one thing. Sitting around in standby is another. Watching video with a bluetooth device connected is something else.

The more you try to do, the less the battery life will be. I'm thinking that with average usage, you'll probably end up with about 4 hours.

Most people recharge nightly anyway.

meh, i'm still not sold, even if it does have stellar battery life. i had a friend that had a touch screen phone, he dropped it and got a little crack in it. dialing became a colossal pita. so that's a big turn off for me.

that and the hype. i feel like it's being forced down my throat ๐Ÿคค

I'm not sold on it either, but I think it just wouldn't be a good phone for me. Everything I've read about the phone is regarding the media functionality (video, photo, Web). I'd like to know more about the organization features. I'm not a hardcore business user - I don't use mobile email, but I do like to use appointments, calendars, reminders, and task lists in addition to media functions (Nokia N80 - I miss you!!!!).

So, 8 hrs would actually mean "maybe 2 hrs...if you're lucky".
