Will Verizon cripple the GPS on this phone too?

Oct 8, 2008, 10:40 AM
Since Verizon consistently cripples GPS enabled phones to charge an extra $15/month for their crap service are they going to do it to this phone too?

The good news is VZNav is only $9.99 a month and in the time it took you to ask your question you could have done some reading and seen the BB Maps. Very Happy

This comment is true that it has BB maps

But the maps does not mean GPS.

Just like the 8700/8703e

True, but there has been mention after mention about it being able to use 3rd party GPS systems. So unless everything reported is wrong..

The best way is to just wait until some official in-depth reviews come out and not just the 30 min hands on that are avail. now.

Yes, the 9530 Simulator indicates that there will be stand alone gps as well as agps. Also, the internal RIM/VZW documents indicate stand a lone gps for maps and other services like geotagging.

I hope they don't cripple the internal GPS. Maybe they could unlock the internal GPS on my Verizon Curve when this comes out Very Happy
