I am wondering which phone manufacturers (besides LG and Samsung) are using Qualcomm chips?

Does anyone know which chips are used in the pocket pc's that are sold in the USA such as the "at&t/cingular 8525" ?

Maybe this "ban" will force more Nokia phones into the country?

"I am wondering which phone manufacturers (besides LG and Samsung) are using Qualcomm chips?"

I am specifically wondering which GSM phones use the Qualcomm chips.

i dont think gsm phones use qualcomm chips at all, w/ the exception of gsm/wcdma phones, but pure gsm phones dont use qualcomm chips, if so, we would have that little sticker on our phone that says "Qualcomm"

Right only UMTS/HSDPA phones, which use a WCDMA air interface, are affected. GSM phones are not.

well then I guess my question should have been this: Which UMTS/HSDPA phone manufacturers for USA carriers (besides LG and Samsung) are using Qualcomm chips?

That is NOT true.

Motorola uses 3G IC from Freescale only.

No Qualcomm..

Do not miss-inform.

Only Korean companies use Qualcomm IC (LG, Samsung)

Actually, you are wrong. Motorola does use Qualcomm’s chipsets.

Correct, but they still deal with them. They continue to expand their relationship whether it is in the CDMA or in the UMTS area.

You did not really miss it because you are correct. I would not say all because there could be one or two little companies not using Q’s chips. You are right about Nokia though. Kyocera, Samsung, Sanyo, LG, and Motorola all use Q’s chips. (I might be forgetting some people.) In addition, Sony Ericsson does not use Q’s chipsets.

Many companies would get hurt. Actually, Nokia mentioned in many articles that if this thing continues 3G would get hurt altogether, which is true. Perhaps their plan with Broadcom backfired.

Actually, Texas Instruments also makes chips that do not infringe on the patent in question.
