What do you expect when you let any kid sign up for service just so you make your subscriber number. Didn't I read a short while back that Sprint got into a world of hurt for this practice as well?

Yup - I expect that its many 16-21 year old with no credit (and nothing to lose) that just decide not to pay. Many probably don't know what their credit score is, don't have credit cards or any other assets. AMP'd could have asked for a steep deposit.

Amp'd has told some people "NO", as opposed to charging hefty fees.

Serves them right. We have had nothing but headaches trying to deal with those people. They constantly wouldnt just do what we aksed, or even except payments on our customers behalf. Worst customer service in the industry.
Good idea from the origin but just went steadily downhill. We took them off the counter Last Week!!!

I have a feeling that Verizon's "Lawyer Cannons" far out weigh out the power of anything AMP'D brings to the table.

Not necessarily.

I'm sure Amp'd has some 'cannons' of their own on retainer.

You could be right. I don't know, when I ever I think of VZW's laywers, I picture Mr. Burns and his "Ten High Priced Laywers", chilling.

Yep, and Sprint is still feeling the aftermath of this. They actually had a decent plan in place (the spending limit concept) but there was an innate flaw: someone who doesn't have good credit isn't going to care about losing a $150 deposit, which is what they paid at Sprint. Instead of the possible $500+ deposit that might be required elsewhere.

if verizon does turn off amp'd, they'll also be shutting off service for 90,000 customers who DO pay their bills. i would only hope that at the least verizon would offer to take these customers (the paying ones) as their own if amp'd is shut down.

let's also not forget that either with a court stay or just a streak of benevolence from verizon, amp'd won't get shut down (at least not right away). of course that doesn't magically get 80k customers to pay up.

i can't tell if you're agreeing with me or being cheeky, but i will state ftr that i meant sad as in pathetic. how they'd make such poor business decisions and not see this coming is beyond me.

i do feel for the paying customers who may wind up losing their svc. i hope verizon does offer to take them on.
