OBEX is not an actual profile. OBEX is a pseudo-profile, consisting of two actual profiles: OPP and FTP.

OPP is Object Push profile, and is the one most people are familiar with. You simply choose a file on the sending device, choose "send" or "copy", and choose a device to send it to. You send one or more files in a simple one-time transfer.

FTP uses more of a "pull" model instead of "push". The most typical way to use it is to pair your phone with a PC, and then you can browse the phone's files from the PC and transfer both ways from the PC.

this is actually being offered in japan as the softbank 706sc. it's a pretty nifty phone actually, the only thing i don't like is that fact that the outside disp is so small. other than that it looks like a good phn.

As little as I know about handsets in Japan, it does seem as though the phones that do have external screens there, are small.

I'm speaking of foma series handsets.
One of the Sharp handsets.

I have the Sharp V903, which doesn't have an external screen, but I do look forward to my next handset having an external scrren though.

They do have a full set of Bluetooth profiles, even FTP-client, which is rare.
