Why not U.S.? It has quad band/dual band WCDMA!!!

I don't understand why these handsets can't be for the U.S., the article says that they are quad band gsm, and dual band WCDMA 850/2100.

So I don't see why this can't be picked by AT&T, is it because it has a 3.2mp autofocus camera, and therfore TOO GOOD for AT&T!!!!!

Simple, it does not feature WCDMA 1900. AT&T's WCDMA/UMTS network uses both the 850 and 1900 bands. The 850 band on this phone is mainly for Telstra in Australia, however it could be used for roaming in the United States. For full usage on Cingular, however, it should have both the 850 and 1900 UMTS bands.

Also, the 3G network for T-Mobile USA will use the 1700 and 2100 bands. The 2100 band that T-Mobile will be using is incompatible with the European 2100 band.

Thanks for the feedback.

Why the heck is T-Mobile's 2100 incompatible with Europes 2100??? Is it because like you said, T-Mobile USA is going to be using both 1700/2100 for 3G? Is that why.

Secondly, one thing that pisses me off about 3G is certain handsets being for the European market, certain handsets being for Australia, certain handsets being for Asia. And then the worst of the GSM handsets for the U.S!!!

It would be nice if ---ALL--- GSM handsets had every GSM band, I mean the G in GSM does stand for Global!!!

Not handset!!! I have a Sharp V903, I notice your has a nice camera, mine has a 3.2mp w/af.
And mp3 player, I didn't notice the N73 having an mp3 player, that's dissapointing.

But overall, it seems like a nice handset!!!
Are you using yours on Cingulars network, I'm using my Sharp V903 on Cingular's network.

Ah heck, I've been with Cingular for over 5yrs, works just fine for me. And I've got 2,253 RO minutes!!!

So anyway, how the heck much longer til T-Mobile launches they're 3G network, will it be BEFORE the end of 2007??????

Personally, I'm waiting for Cingular to luanch MobileTv to upgrade,....supposedly 4q of this year.

yeah and just wait until the end of your 1st year and the rollover minutes expire 🙄 . I watch movies on my phone and I have a psp I take everywhere so I dont care about mobitv. If you have that many minutes left you are on 2 big of a plan and throwing money away every month. Surely you know that.

Yeah, I've considered that, but I've got my mother on my account also, so that's why I'd rather have the 1400 minute plan than a measly 700 minutes, if the plan below was more like 900, I might settle for it, I'm really frinkin sick of how greedy the wireless industry is with both data (txt msgs) and minutes, there are plenty of subscribers, and plenty of money they industry is making,. . . they can plenty afford to offer much, much better plans.

But yeah, 700 minutes, just really isn't all that much, so 1400 is the next up.

BTW, not all your rollover minutes expire, just the one's from the same month of the previous year. You don't start fresh every year.

It's just one band. T-Mobile is not using "two bands" for 3G. That one band is "paired" and therefore does include a 1700 MHz part and a 2100 MHz part. Still, it's incompatible with Europe's 2100 band (which is actually paired at 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz.)

HTC 8525 and Palm 750 both support Cingular's and European HSDPA.

Oh, I knew about the 8525, but I didn't know about the 750 being tri-band HSDPA.

I keep wondering when the network is going to be capable of 3.6mbps damn it!!!!!

I want to buy an aircard, and bring my laptop to work, and surft the net, but screw this 400-700kbps crap, that speed is 10yrs old!!!

Correct.

(Although for clarification, T-Mobile's 3G network will use just one "band" for 3G. It does span both 1700 MHz and 2100 MHz, but then most bands are actually "paired" bands like that. Europe's "2100" band includes frequencies around both 2100 MHz and 1900 MHz.)

Since it is quad-band, you can certainly buy it from an online importer and use it here.

Too many radios/frequencies. I don't get it.

I want to buy the Nokia 6500 slide from an importer when it becomes available.

Two Questions:
1. I understand I will be able to make calls in the US, but will I get 3G speeds for data?

2. Does this phone have any GPS map capability? Hacked or otherwise; present or future?
