Probably not much, at least until they resell to another carrier.

It isn't even necessarily known yet that they are definetly going to sell to another carrier yet, is it?

It would surprise me if they didn't sell parts of it off. If Alltel was already profitable, they wouldn't have sold out. Seems like the easiest way to make a buck off this is to divide it and sell the parts off.

Alltel is extremely profitable. Where as they might only have about 12 million customers. Which is really small as compared to the 50 million plus giants. But here's what to look at: Alltel didn't have a bunch of debt only about 2.5 billion. That was acquired this year, all of last year they were debt free. Where the other guys are 30 plus billion in debt. Alltel couldn't go that far into debt because it would take them a lot longer to get out of it. They have been ran extremely effective. Not only that but all shares made almost $10 a piece. Wow! Ok so break it out. Company sold for a little over 27 billion dollars. With only 2.5 billion in debt. What is not profitable about that?

This isn't to say there won't be any, but at this time, I wouldn't expect ANY changes at all.

Roaming agreements should be carried throughtout their terms, even in the event of a merger/sale to a larger company, until the end of those agreements.

Private equity firms are out there to make money... period, and not have to deal with short term Wall Street investors. Since Alltel has a large network which all carriers (except Nextel) roam on, and can make a profit at it.. I'm sure they will continue roaming, as long as the other carriers can afford it.
