Over 50 Million units sold 😲 . You can Razr bash all you like, but the fact of the matter is that the v3 is one of the most revolutionary cell phones of all time. Look at the market as it stands today, every cell phone manufacture is doing their best to have their Razr look-a-like with mixed results. It may seem as though the Razr hater crowd is larger than usual, consider this, When 3% of 50,000,000 is 1,500,000.
...
Yeah, stats don't lie but they can mislead.
Motorola has sold 50 million RAZRs and spawned copycats from every other manufacturer out there. But why were they able to do that? Because nothing like the RAZR had ever been seen before! Do they really think they can repeat that success with what is essentially the same phone? Yeah, there are some improvements but do you think that the typical person who bought the original RAZR is really going to know this? Much less actually use them.
Motorola has put all of their eggs in a RAZR basket and that is a dangerous thing for them.

people seemed to love hitler back in the day too....we all know what happened there.

Comparing Hitler to the RAZR line... why didn't I think of that? 🤨
...
I don't mean to sound stupid, but I honestly don't understand where these posts thoughts are headed.
Are you trying to say Motorola is shubbing the RAZR down our throats???
By the way, I don't think this is just another modified RAZR, it is a considerable jump!!!

hey, i bet if hitler was alive he would have a razr....and 2 months after getting it he would have to replace it.
...
He'd have to replace it because one of our venerable forefathers in the US Army would have shot it right out of his hands.
Don't bash the V3. It has been one of the most influential phones of our time.

oh STFU and get a life....i'll bash the razr as much as i want....wanna know why? b/c its a peice of junk, i know it, motorola knows it, and about 75% of everyone thats owned a razr (cingular) knows it....if the razr is influencing anything besides other peice of junk phones than thats just sad...
...
All I can speak of are real world stats from my retail store: the RAZR has the highest exchange/return rate of any phone in the last year, and not because of style or feel, it was because of crippling software defects...not so much on newer RAZRs, but OG V3's still get made and still get blank screens/ power offs/ general crazyness.
And I KNOW all phones have those problems, but not at the rate RAZRs do...
...
We are 2 1/2 years into the Razr generation. Most people who have a Razr and is comfortable with their Razr will gladly pick up the successor. Is it unrealistic to expect another 50 mil? Absolutely. However, if this phone does even a small percentage of what the Razr has done it should be considered a success. The fact of the matter is that Motorola is a trusted brand, especially here in the states.
...
The fact that they're a trusted brand is the reason they're in a good position to introduce vibration feedback into the market, and therefore higher peoples expectations of handsets 😁
I think higher expectations are a good thing!
Expect more, and they're put more into the handsets,. . . I think.
...
Good thing LG is introducing vibration feedback too ...
...
In the U.S.? If so, which model? I can careless about evil Verizon by the way, I'm interested in what's headed Cingular's way, I've been with Cingular over 5yrs.
I'm also curious how vibration feedback will effect battery life, because now a days the more multimedia a handset gets, and so on, and the more people get used to listening to music on they're handsets, well,. . . there's just more demand on the battery now a days, that's for sure.
...
Personally, I think people will appreciate the large external display, that's for sure!
And with the introduction of vibration feedback, that feature in handset that will be popular will higher standards, and expectations that people will have on future handsets.
I hope whichever handset I end up getting, will have vibration feedback, I'm curious what that's like.
...
What are you talking about vibration feedback? Is it like on the Samsungs that vibrate to the rhythm of the ringtone?
...
when you press on the touch sensitive keys the phone vibrates slightly to let you know that you pressed a key, since there is no force feedback like a regular button.
...
I don't know, I don't personally have hands-on experience with a vibration feedback enabled handset, but my understanding is when you touch an icon on the touchscreen, theres a slight vibrating sensation.
But I never heard of Samsung handsets that vibrate to the tone of a ringtone, that's really cool!!!
...
that is amazing......but what a reliable phone eh?
...
lol, you are joking in right? that has to be the absoulte worst nokia i have ever seen!
...
not joking......as someone who has sold hundreds of those phones and never seen a one come back because it didn't work anymore i would say that it was great. No it wasn't flashy, didn't have a lot of features. But it was reliable and did its job.
...
we had a a$$ load of problems with that phone in the 1900MHz markets. we had to stop selling it in the Carolinas.
...
o ok, i was primarily in 850 markets.
...
Wow, as both a Verizon dealer and an investor in the stock market can I just say how badly you seem to be missing the mark with this line of reasoning?
Units "sold" don't mean diddly if they are giving them away. Flooding the market with a phone hardly equates to a "good" product.
As a dealer, I pulled the RAZR v3m off my shelf due to a large amount of product deficencies/returns. The RAZR an KRZR's have been a step behind in technology since launched when compared to their competition when looking at the specs for the components. Now they are falling further behind and trying to charge more (check out the RAZR MAXX vs. LG VX8700 right now, and this RAZR2 looks like another version of MAXX...currently Moto is asking $20 more for MAXX,...

Hate to say it, but I agree with you. As a Verizon Wireless junkie, I really wish Motorola would do something totally new. I was excited about today, because I was expecting something really big, such as a competing "touch phone" like the F700 from Samsung or the Apple iPhone. Instead, we get yet another glorified RAZR, even after they literally just released the maxx Ve. I totally agree, too little, too late. But I will say this... There has been alot of complaints about the horrible, crappy Verizon UI. Hopefully there will be a way to swap out the Verizon UI with another Motorola UI when all of the RAZR2s are released.
...
Don't get your hopes up with the swapping out the Verizon UI idea.
Verizon is the red China of the wireless industry, everybody knows that, they have way, way, way too much control over they're handsets, and all the creativity and hard work that the handset maker put into the UI, and OS for they're new handset is scrapped, and raped, by Verizon.
...
You think vibration feedback is uninspiring?!?!?!? I think it's a step forward.
...
While I may not share the exact same point of view as the Eliminator, he does make a strong case. I dont want to hear from all the Nokia fanboys about my next comment so you should stop reading here. The Razr2/V8/V9....puke
...
So noise cancelation, vibration feedback, and large external display, none of that appeal to you?!?!?
...
.........will not get the same recognition as its predessor nor will it appeal to all existing V3 users. I myself purchased the Razr when it first launched and have had 8 or so replacements since. But like myself, many consumers purchased this phone because it was very ergonomic, not because of the bells and whistles. The Nokia 1100 "throw away phone" wasnt mass marketed and didnt serve up a ton of gizmos, "200 million sold"! Now that phone was a P.O.S. but they were almost giving it away even on prepaid and thats somthing that WONT happen this time. It is unfortunate though, because this will be needed to be accepted in this music/smart/do your laundry phone world we live in. Goodbye MR. Zander and farewell! 🤤
...
the problem with the razr is that its a hit or miss phone ... i've seen people go through quite a few of them before they finally buried and got something better ... on the flip side i've seen people beat the hell out of it and it still runs strong ... it seriously depends on luck with which one you get. my problem is the razr needs to something more than just upgrading certain components they needed to do a complete redesign from the ground up and maybe work out some kinks from the original razr.
...
yeh, got that right....the v3xx is a good phone. it only took them two years to get it out. But they need to come up with something more revolutionary. Something that doesn't look like a motorola....motorola's style is to distinct.
...
Why does every phone they release have to be revolutionary? They are taking a product and evolving it to make it better. Look at any product line and no product released has been revolutionary with every update. What you fail to see is that you are a phone junkie like myself but the average wireless user doesn't care about all the extra, extra stuff. If the majority of wireless customers were as demanding as you, VZ would not be seeing such strong gains considering how they rape their handsets.
...
Im not saying each fone has to be revolutionary....what i am saying is that MOTOZNDR says this new device WILL be revolutionary and they expect this fone to do just as well as the first did at launch. Not happening
...
25 million were waranty replacements 🤣
