How is it that I work for Cingular (now the new AT&T) and I never know about these phones being carried until they show up on Cingular.com? Soooo annoying, but I digress...

Boy Genius had this annoying habit of posting Cingular's proprietary info on the web up to a year in advance. That along with other leaks is the reason why Cingular is so tight lipped with their employees about this kind of thing. Remember, we used to get product road maps 6-12 months in advance.

I bet it shows up in a month or two, only Nokia and some other brands lag. Finally got my N75 today!

Cingular sucks compared to Verizon on carrying phones because all this tenatively crap sucks. Either dont post the phone as coming to Cingular or get the phone within a reasonable amount of time like Verizon does.

I am just implying that why does it take 6 months from the time the phone posts to Phonescoop to the time cingular actually gets the phone. Yet Verizon gets them in a reasonable amount of time.

Because at&t uses GSM, most phones that are optimized for at&t's networks are released abroad in some form prior to their release stateside. It takes a while for the FCC to clear phones and for at&t to test them before they hit stores. And I tends to be fairly obvious when you look at certain GSM phones and pick the ones that are optimized for at&t. When Sprint or Verizon has phones in the wings, they aren't going to pop up in London before they are ready for domestic release.
