Verizon would not win in any battle especially with the massive rollouts with FIOS as well as the potential $50B+ for Voda’s stake in VZW. If Sprint sees that the cost, around $30B, would be good and there would be a lot of synergies to offset some of that purchase, then Sprint will pull the trigger. We all know it makes sense for Sprint to do so, problem is, will they? Will Shareholders allow for another merger when the Nextel merger is not going quite as smoothly? We shall see.

Are you serious about that comment. Please tell me what kind of crack you are smoking? Verizon Wireless covers metro areas and Alltel covers rural areas. This merger would be perfect CDMA conversion would be not complex at all. As far as Sprint they are full of junk..Can we say dropped calls!

You are right it would be a good situation as it would add to Verizon’s 850mhz spectrum, the problem arises though, with the price tag because that is quite rich even for Verizon especially since they probably want to buy out Voda’s stake in VZW which is probably estimated more than $50B+ the way that VZW is growing. It would be tough for Verizon to add $30B, then add $50B+, and then add the capital expenditures that is being paid for FIOS and other developments. Remember, they do have $30B+ of debt so that might hurt a little bit.
