It'll teach them the true value of their cell phones. No longer will we hear, "$200! That phone was free when I got it!"

Exactly my point, back when I first started selling phones (2000) nobody ever came in with a busted phone. Why? becuase when they paid $150 for a very simple phone they bought the case for it, didnt use it in the rain, didnt let the dog chew it up, or let the baby suck on it,because they knew how much it would cost to replace it.

Subsidized phones are the worst thing that ever happened to the cellular industry, both to consumers and retailers

Problem with many of these laws, the intent is good, and some sound practice could be found. Instead they will go overboard. To be honest I have been using mobile phones since about 1991. Only had one bad and it was replaced by Cellular One which was Comcast in my area. (since has become cingular or whatver they are calling themselves this week
