Hey guys, this is only setting the bar for what is to come. With more and more subscribers dumping their land lines for cellular, you have to raise the standard so that the next wave of wireless is not painful for the consumer.

With these kinds of laws it is going to become more painful for the consumer. Prices of handsets will not be subsidized, the carries cannot afford to loose money on handsets and than have a law that says the consumer can buy a new one at a subsudized price because they have a a couple of problems with the handset that THEY choose. I mean lets get real, the phones come with a warrenty to get it replaced fort he first year and I am sure that every carrier offers an extended warrenty. VZW only charges $1.99 per month for ectended warrety, very worth while price in my mind since I use a $400.00 phone.

I agree that the handset law is tedious. But with the 3 strikes and you're out law, it will force carriers to beef up customer service. No one carrier will stop subsidizing the cost of the phone. However, if carriers stopped doing that, that would be wireless heaven.

Customer Service has nothing to do with peole not putting any value into there handset and treatgin it as is they bought it out of a bubble gum machine. I see so many handsets that are just abused, that is why they quit working . If people woild treat there phone with the same care that they treat thier Palm Pilot or laptop there would be many less compliants. I do not see people toss thier laptop up in the air or use it outside while it is raining, bu they will do those types of tings with a cellular phone, where is the logic. I also hear parents say, Well it is my childs phone, of course it is going to be beat up. My question is, Does your child have a PSP or iPod, does it look like it was run over with a car, if not why dont they giv...

i agree, people really do not take care of their phones ,for some reason they always think that its an easy replacement, but when they find out retail price of their phone is like 400.00 they flip. but with a warranty and insurance, why is there a need for a law such as this?? and on the other hand some phones (no matter what they are) will always have some kind of prob. they will have issues with the screen or keys or sound or camera, or whatever it is its just logic. Why should the carrier pay for it? they dont make the phones. and yes i understand that they have to be passed, but its technology, there will always be bugs, if they waited for it be perfect we would never see new phones come out for years.
