With the announcement BlackBerry software is now available for other platforms, it might be possible to run their own software with a BlackBerry interface.

BlackBerry software. Customized for Verizon, of course, but it won't have the whole "Verizon standard UI".

I have a 8703e. Will the software be the same as the 8703e? I noticed on the pictures that the Verizon blackberry screen icons look different from the Sprint version. The Sprint version looks like a normal blackberry. I was playing with the Cingular 8800. The interface was close to being the same as the 8703e. 😳

The new 'Berrys with a trackball have a wide variety of very different options for the home screen.

Once you get any deeper into the interface, it's all the same DOS-like BlackBerry interface you're used to.

Hey, no knocking the DOS-like interface. The blackberry is much more useable than the other windows mobile systems. I had a Q for a week and returned it. I had had the blackberry for 2 years and the Q was not as useable.

Speaking of, does the trackball replace the all-in-one button on the right side? I have really got used to that button and the menu of features. All in place is great for getting to what I want quicker.

I hope it has all the features of the scroll wheel, or I may not upgrade or return it after two weeks. That is one thing I hated about the Q, was that you had to do more clicks to get to the function you wanted. The trackball was nice on the Q and i wanted it on the blackberry but not at the cost of usability.

Thanks for the info.

Can the verizon version be set to look like a normal blackberry, such as the 8703e or like the sprint version that's displayed. 👀

I'm not sure, but I would guess so. The Pearl for T-Mobile comes with a special T-Mobile home screen by default, but you can switch it to the traditional BlackBerry one if you want.

why is everyone saying the "Verizon Version or Software", all of VZW's blackberries run on Blackberry software. The VZW theme you would normally see is just a that, a VZW theme. you can change this theme to BB's default from the settings screen at anytime.
