No more $5 text pack?

I saw this within the article talking about the unlimited messaging plans and read that Verizon will no longer be offering the $5 text pack? I have asked about this and no one has heard anything about this. Does anything know anything behind this statement? Just curious. Because if its really going to be gone, I need to stop telling people about it. 😁

If you go to Verizon Wireless's web site, select a phone, then select a plan, and then select the features of the plan, you will find that the cheapest messaging bundle available is $10. People who currently have the $5 bundle may keep it as long as they wish. New customers may only choose the $10, $15 or $10 bundles. Or pay full price for each message.

i dont think that is true...i sold that package to a customer this morning $5 for 250 messages...i think what they are talking about is the $5 unlimited in plan...although that plan has been gone for a while some subscribers still have it and now if they make any changes to their account they have to put a different text plan on, and than $5 unlimited in plan can be replaced with the $5 plan for 250 messages

As of today the $5 text package is still available when activation a phone, maybe a change Verizon ahsn't made yet. The only thing I heard was that the $20 will no longer be available as you can just add $20 for unlimited on any single line.
I'm not saying it won't go away, but I just went in today and it's still listed as avaiable, but it's not listed with the other packages, instead next to pay per message.

you indirect dealers are douche bags..just because its available in eRoes doesnt mean your supposed to sell it. Back when I sold verizon (before the new eRoes) I would add the $5 unlimited plan on for all my friends even though that plan had been gone for 2 years. Verizon doesnt update there system right away so that everything matches. and since no one really trains indirect reps they just run a rampage and give out all sorts of crap theyre not supposed to

Since you are the douche bag who no longer works for verizon, you probably don't know that when verizon makes updates, such as a texting plan change, it is usually updated in Eroes prior to the launch/effective date. It's crazy how things change. And any ISAM would rather have an "untrained rep run a rampage" and sell $5 text plans than no text plans at all.

I've added a few of those plans on in the last few days and I talked to my regional director and she says it's staying. It's been an unadvertized plan for quite some time though, so it wouldn't surprise me to see it go away.

It's just a matter of finding your break-even point: if you do less than $5 in text, you pay per message. If the $5 plan goes away, the break-even point goes up to $10.

The $5 250 message package is still available.. It is now and always has been "offsheet pricing" so in other words, since the Unlimited IN/50 message package was mothballed the $5 package is THERE but VZW doesn't want to sell it too bad because it has 3 seperate allowances for some reason. 250 text messages 250 pictures and 250 videos.. it's not all inclusive up to 250 messages.

It looks like the $5 pack is here to stay, at least for now. I've added a half a dozen of these plans to customers who just don't use $10 worth of texting a month, and added them since the phonescoop story broke. Verizon's website press release says nothing aobut dropping the plan, though it has remained a largely unadvertized plan.

I talked to a few of my supervisors and they haven't heard that the plan was being dropped, though that's always subject to change too.

well quit asking you supervisors who hardly even sell phones anymore and ask your indirect account rep. i know you dont work for a direct store cause they dont hire retarded people...well for the most part.

Well EXCUUUUSE me! I actually was talking to my indirect account manager, I just didn't bother to exactly list that person in the last post. But the proof is in the pudding: the $5 text plan still exists in eROES, and I have been adding the plan on to people's accounts in the last week, so at least for now, it stays.

Oh, and our store does more business than some corporate locations, but working for a corporate store would require moving, and I like where I live.

And if you want to resort to name-calling, I have a retarded sister-in-law who has more brains than you.

Im saying just because the $5 pack is available in eroes doesnt mean your supposed to add it. and your manager and your district manager wouldnt know the difference and dont care because they just need to sell phones. and if your indirect rep really told you that, (which I doubt) hes going to call you back soon and change his answer. Its there job to make sure you abiding by verizon corporate policy.

and if you new anything about anything you would know that the focus for account managers and all the higher ups is not activations/phone sales because they will always be there, the push is on data, so they could care less what kind of data is being sold, as long as data is being sold.

Here's the bottom line though. My account manager hasn't given me instructions not to add the $5 pack, it's still available in eROES (I know that's not a guarantee), Verizon's press release says nothing about it (though it's been an unadvertized feature for some time, so that's not a huge surprise), and I'm still getting paid for the $5 text plan.

If I get instructions to not add it, I'll certainly follow them, or if Verizon stops paying me comission on that plan, then I'll definetly quit adding it. Until then, however, I'll keep offering it. It's a good way to keep my data take rate up, and it's better comission than no text package at all, and of course it's good for customers who do more than $5 of texting but less than $10 at the p...
