Both you and I think alike because I was actually going to post that website. I actually posted some of the speeds and other Wimax situation against the other technologies when it comes to speed, capacity, spectrum, devices, and other relevant information. Kudos to you at finding this website, perhaps people will know understand that Wimax is true and especially when Sprint has 98mhz of MMDS spectrum it is ample enough. Moreover, they can use that spectrum additionally to what they have meaning it will not affect their voice, while Cingular’s HSDPA/HSUPA might. They do not have enough spectrum to reach those ideal speeds, while Sprint has better of a chance to do so.

exactly... thanks buddy for being on the truth side
...
I am just waiting the evidence that has been researched from all of the technologies at hand and just making simple observations.

Ok... that's good for the U.S., but what about the rest of the world. Oh, yeah, I forgot South Korea as well. 😛
I have nothing against WiMAX, however, you need to have more than a datacard and an IP network unless you want to be a mobile WISP.
...
Well if you take a look there are other places globally that are starting to test and operate Wimax networks. You can see that I posted a lot about this on the Sprint forum as well as others. Just search my name for it. The good thing about Wimax is that you can create a global platform, which will create a worldwide Wimax network, which will be great.
Some excerpts;
“Trendsmedia/Rethink Research's latest report was released on August 11, 2006:
"WiMAX Deployments and Investment 2006."
They state that global WiMAX infrastructure spending will rocket from $655m today to $7.36bn by 2009. WiMAX spending will go from 22.5% of all broadband wireless spending in 2006. This will make WiMAX the dominant platform in the market, with a 63% marke...

Does that mean that there will be roaming agreements between all the various WiMAX groups ? If so, then this will be a 'good' thing (i.e. cheaper, less regulated GSM/UMTS), and much better than CDMA, which is limited to ANSI core and a few countries because of lack of roaming abilities.
...
If the company wants to do roaming agreements with other Wimax players then they can do so. Obviously, they have to evaluate the economics behind it and to see if it is in their best interest.
Wimax is cheaper then both HSDPA/HSUPA and EV-DO on a bit-by-bit basis as well as a gig by gig basis per month. It is also better with speed, capacity, and more importantly coverage. In addition, with Sprint for instance they have separate spectrum in that area, which they can use, and wont affect their voice because they will continue to use their 800 MHz, 1.9 GHz for voice and their 2.5 GHz for Wimax.

Licensing costs on UMTS were the biggest upfront cost. That was done to attempt to keep spectrum unified for global roaming purposes.
Again, this comes down to a bit of a global scale issue, vs. Sprint/WiMAX.
Sure, in the U.S., competition (and ROI) will have price. The same can not always be said in other countries, where regulations are fierce, and others yet that will price gouge because they can. U.S. accounts for < 10% of the global market. China itself accounts for close to 20%. If WiMAX wants to be successful, (especially in replacing EVDO/HSDPA), then they need large (global) deployments with roaming agreements on all continents, Sprint 1xrtt/WiMAX won't do in Europe... GSM/WiMAX would.
I see wireless as we know it for voic

Well take a look at the research and you will be surprised. They could perhaps just create a global Wimax network just prompting data. I was not talking about globally as much as I was talking about domestically with response to how Wimax will destroy HSDPA/HSUPA and EV-DO. The domestic cost/bit is a lot better than HSDPA/HUSPA and EV-DO and will be the same globally.

I don't think you'll find a whole lot of disagreement on WiMAX for data only. However, until it matures, and I can replace my wireless phone and DSL line for a WiMAX line and not have to scavenge for service, I don't think I'll be swapping out any time soon. NYC and California don't even have any plans to roll out WiMAX, and that's 50 million potential subs right there.
Most business practices have short and long term goals. You have to get the traditional WiMAX vs. EVDO/HSDPA off your mind, and think outside the box! Short term should be to put WiMAX out there to do the following:
a) Replace DSL/Cable Internet where possible, by being cheaper and portable
b) Use WiMAX as other features besides handheld/data. Many countries could...

According to CAGR, and investments Wimax will be a huge competitor against Cable and DSL operators, especially since when there would be bundled services. Remember, there is a joint venture between the cable companies and Sprint to use also the Wimax network, which will allow a quad play with Wimax, which will be deadly.
Well, NYC and California are in Sprint’s plans especially since they have spectrum in those areas.

I personally do hope that there's competition for DSL/Cable, as their pricing is too high.
A 2-4 Mbps connection should be about $20 for unlimited.
...
Yea, it should be on the fixed DSL/Cable but unfortunately, the cable companies are taking advantage. That is why getting mobile is better, especially if you pay a premium, your coverage area would be greater.
...
So, in other words, Sprint feels it can RAISE the cost of data services to make more revenue rather than IMPROVE them.
...
Well, if you notice the price that is going to be offering from the WIMAX platform will be very similar to the likes of EV-DO. They could obviously do it cheaper if they wanted to but it will be priced on different tiers similar with the Flarion trial Nextel had. WIMAX is actually an improved service over EV-DO.

Also,
“China Unicom starts work on WiMAX
China Unicom, which has been testing WiMAX for about a year, has now formally begun the construction of its network.
The operator recently held a special meeting, evaluating the results of its WiMAX tests, and has issued some documents related to its construction plans, with a list of recommended manufacturers, to each of its provincial affiliates. These approved WiMAX vendors include Datang and Potevia.
The company's Planning and Network Construction Department has initiated WiMAX build-out in five Chinese cities, including Guangdong, Shanghai and Dalian, adding high value data services by combining with existing CDMA and GSM networks.

we got to give sprint/wimax credit and yes maybe it will get big and wide
but it will not be the best at&t are going to top it i dont know when but they will.
like they getting hspa+ which is a direct competetor to wimax 😎
...
In addition, it is only $2-3B that they are spending so it is not such a huge expense when it comes to the amount of points of presence they will cover. Most importantly, they were forced by the regulators to do this. So they figure why not? If everything goes their way, they will be very successful. Not sure if HSDPA/HSUPA is fair to compare them to Wimax, but I think, it is better to compare Wimax to FIOS.
...
lol hope you love that fantasy dream thats going on now.
voice is the low market now, data is the higher one. were set after wimax 🙄

So you know that as of today, Sprint's WiMax offerings to the public are equal to T-Mobile's Analog (AMPS) offerings to the public? That's right, as of today, Sprint's WiMax offerings are absolutely ZILCH.
...
I think what everyone is missing out on is the fact that behind all the wimax wifi umts and hspda is a phone or cable line. And the fact of the matter is that verizion and AT&T own most of the phone lines in the country.
They dont have to make huge investments in WIMax because if they want to they'll just buy Sprint.
...
“They dont have to make huge investments in WIMax because if they want to they'll just buy Sprint.”
This is a ridiculous statement because they do not chose to deploy Wimax is because they do not have Wimax spectrum, and they would not be able to buy out Sprint because the regulators will not allow that.
...
Actually, Nextel18 is right.
It is a ridiculous statement that "they'll just buy Sprint".
Sprint wouldn't be worth the purchase for Verizon or AT&T, as with the infrastructure they have in place, they could build out their networks at less of a cost.
...
Well in some regards, buying Sprint isn’t a good idea but there are many pros to the deal. More customers, more towers, more spectrum especially in the 1.9 GHz but most importantly in the 2.5 GHz to deploy Wimax, and Qchat. There are others but those are some examples.
Problem is, however, the regulators will not allow such a deal to happen. I think cable or private equity would buy out Sprint.

All this talk about how great WiMax is GOING to be and how it's GOING to take over the world. Now, does anyone have a WiMax capable phone? Have any of you experienced WiMax speeds? Didn't think so, I HAVE a 3G/HSDPA phone now, I HAVE experienced HSDPA, its not just a pipe dream of the future and it IS faster than any data speeds ANY CDMA carrier can boast about TODAY which is where we are right now. There is one crucial piece of the puzzle no one ever wants to talk about. All the network speeds in the world don't mean squat if the phone has a less than 300mhz processor in it. Its like connecting your DSL or cable into your 56K modem, if the phone can't process it, it will still be slow to the end user, thats why Sprint will only brag about t...
