Any idea if the current HSDPA cards/devices will work with the upgrade or are new devices needed to take advantage of the newer speeds?

More specifically the newer PC cards (Sierra Aircard 875/Option GT Max 3.6) say they are capable of these HSPA speeds, but they do not claim to be HSPA "capable".

These are the current HSUPA cards when it comes with Sierra Wireless;
“Sierra Wireless’s newly unveiled HSUPA-capable product line includes two AirCard® PC cards, called the AirCard 880 and the AirCard 881; two corresponding AirCard ExpressCard modems, called the AirCard 880E and the AirCard 881E; as well as the MC8780 and the MC8781 PCI Express Mini Card embedded modules. All offer tri-band UMTS/HSPA and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE network access for roaming on high-speed networks worldwide. The AirCard 880, AirCard 880E, and MC8780 are optimized for better fringe performance in Europe and Asia, while the AirCard 881, AirCard 881E and MC8781 are optimized for better fringe performance on North American networks.”

Well thanks for the news. I was about to update my Option GT 1.8 with the Option GT 3.6 but I guess I should wait for the newer cards.

No problem. I don’t care about Option. My companies are Sierra Wireless and Novatel Wireless. They are far more advanced especially in this country compared to Option.
