VZW + Alltel = Good Idea

So what if Alltel is looking to sell. They have finally come to the realization that they can no longer attempt to compete as a national wireless company. Sprint would be the worst combination. They would only do to Alltel what they have already done to Nextel, which is to take a profitable company and turn it into a big disaster. AT&Cingular wont touch it because they have too much debt. T-Mobile can't suck anymore money out of the "Mother Country" to pay for it. That only leaves VZW. Clearly the best choice. VZW is a strong partner, regardless of what all the VZW "haters" say about it. VZW has become more customer friendly than you think. For example, being the first national carrier to have a variable ETF. Offering free services to c...

I agree that a Verizon buyout is the most likely scenario (assuming that another wireless carrier is who Alltel is eventually sold to). However, I don't think that you can discount Sprint.

Sprint buying Alltel is a completely different situation than when Sprint "merged" with Nextel. Other than the obvious incompatibility of the two different networks, we have to remember that Nextel had peaked as a company. There was no further growth for them. For some reason, Sprint decided to come along and bail them out of a bad situation (I guess that Sprint was scared that the only other solution was to be absorbed by Verizon...which was very close to happening at the time).

Sprint buying Alltell could actually be beneficial to both sides....

Sprint is a dying breed; I was employed with Sprint and switched over to Cingular/AT&T last month.

The best move would be for Verizon simply to overtake Cingular/AT&T as the biggest network. But, if Sprint was smart, they'd make a nice offer because aquiring Nextel hasn't helped them at all.

Dying breed? Based on what? Sounds like you either got fired or had problems with management. Please try and hide your sour grapes better. I'd put Sprint's network up against AT&Ts any day.

you cant count ports just because they came in all of a sudden and ported. if you want my info. we done 75 sprint activations and atleast 15-20 cingular activations and im in shentel and thats only in one month. guarantee you it was about 20 verizon or cingular. its only marketing and people change to try new things. but one thing i have that probably you dont is my customers i check with frequently and make sure they like it and they do and were surprized because thier friends told them it sucks compared to verizon or cingular.

sprint is verizon with roaming turned on but with 7pm.

and sorry about your customers who ported with you, they probably got phones from someone who just cared about the sale and not the customer and got them...

Why cant you count ports? They are counted on our activations every month.

Sprint is not Verizon with the roaming turned on. If that were the case then Sprint would work when you left a larger city or drove off the interstate and it doesnt around here.

I do not "trash talk" other carriers to my customers.

Believe it or not I sell Verizon and my customers really like me too because we call every customer within three days and then agian before there 15 days are up to make sure evrything is working well and they are happy.

Also doesn't Sprint charge $.69/min for roaming? So even if what you are saying is true that you can use Verizon's towers there is a chance you will be charged for it. That's awesome.

lol yeah you need to update your skills before you start selling. just admit your not knowledgeable in phones. its ok, noone knows you personally on here

roaming is free and unlimited and unlimited data roaming. that means i can stream live tv on my phone on verizon and use over 10gb of data on verizon while verizon tells you no.

its ok to feel unknowledgable 🤣 i wont tell, but your customers can 😲

Actually I was looking at the Sprint plans online and it shows $.69/min for roaming. It did say there there were roaming options avail but didn't say what they were. So you may not get charged but according to your plans there is the chance to. Verizon has no roaming nationwide.

So you can pay an extra $5 a month so you dont roam? Wow how kind of Sprint. Take another look at the Sprint Power Pack plans it says $.69 for roaming not Canada, just roaming so either Sprint has a big typo or you may just be wrong.

You think Sprint works everywhere Verizon does? Well this summer I rode the Tour de Kota with some friends and one of them had Sprint, weirdest thing the Sprint phone didn't work almost the entire time but the Verizon ones did. Also my brother and his wife have Sprint in San Francisco and it works great for them. When they come to visit and we go to the lake there phones will not work and our Verizon phones do. Sprint just doesn't work well out of town.

Might want to read some of your earlier comments, I'm not the trash talker. It really doesn't matter though I have double checked my information to make sure it is correct so I know that what I am talking about is true. Oh and I have been selling for years so I am not just some idiot that has no clue I actually know what I am talking about.

Actually Sprint does still have $5 roaming and I did look at the plans, maybe you should, you will see the $.69/min on there just click on the plan details.

http://expressbuy.sprint.com/specialoffer.asp?referr ... »

Also Verizon will not cancel an accout or start charging roaming if over 50% of the usage is on Extended Network.

Ok, like they said, you have no clue what you are talking about. You spend 20 minutes getting to a section of the site to try to prove your point. That is a generic statement letting you know there may be roaming based on the plan you get (ie the free incoming still charge roaming). All other plans do not, look here and you will see that. http://www1.sprintpcs.com/explore/servicePlan sOptionsV2/FreeClearFairFlexiblePlans.jsp?FOL DER%3C%3Efolder_id=1436777&CURRENT_USER%3C%3E ATR_SCID=ECOMM&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_PCode=No ne&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_cartState=group
Big letters it says: No Roaming Charges

Next, you are right, Verizon does offer no roaming. But since they came out with America's Choice Revision 2 from its hiatus, they don't tel...

I was not saying that Sprint does not work in the rest of the country I was saying that around here where the majority of the state is rural Sprint does not work. I'm pretty sure that I even said that it works great for my brother and sister in law. Your right all I found was that you COULD be charged for roaming. I did not come across any plan that has no roaming without putting on a $5 package. If that address you had worked and it did say no roaming on sprint plans then I would admit I was wrong. From what information I found it did show you COULD be cahrged for roaming not that you would but there is a chance.

I would have to agree with you on this point, I to live in a rural state, and in my area Sprint doesn't work very well, that is why most people do not have it, in fact there are only Verizon and Alltel stores here. You don't know many people here who have a different carrier than those.

WOW! I think you guys really out did yourselves with this one, you guys really hit right on with making yourselves look mature huh? You know, obviously you are going to know more about the company you work for or the company who your service is through, and obviously every person finds one company that out does all the others for their needs and in their area. Also, with EVERY carrier they know that they don't work in every area, and that is why in most of their contracts they state that they do NOT guarantee service everywhere. But I think all you guys are still missing the point, putting each other down still does not make you any better than that person or did your parents not teach you manners when you were growing up?
