Verizon Launching Mobile TV in 20 Cities

Maybe Size Really Doesn't Matter After All...

I do not think the Mobile TV launch is based upon the size of a city. Years ago when Verizon first begin to launch EV-DO/VCAST, San Diego and Washington D.C. were the first areas to have it. Interestingly enough San Diego is missing from the initial Mobile TV launch, even though Qualcomm's U.S. base of operations is there.
If one is wondering why Tucson instead of Phoenix, a better question would be why San Bernadino and not Los Angeles? Or why Dallas and not Houston or why New Orleans at all. Particularly with that city's population being down post Katrina... It appears that this launch has nothing to do with size and more to do with where Qualcomm and/or Verizon decided to begin testing the service. If the service is popular...
