Why not automatic time adjustment?????????

If computers are so, so, so advanced, then why can't they adjust time off of the internet or cellular networks?!?!?!?!!!!???

And if computers are so advanced why do they become DISABLED over what the time and date is, big deal about what time/date is.

If computers can't function w/o the correct time/date then that's just pathetic!!!!

regular phones will. windows mobile software was written with daylight savings time but the gov't changed daylight savings time, so if the os was set to change and daylight savings time wasn't changed there would be no problem. next release of windows for mobile will adjust for this.

The point I'm trying to make is either the internet or the cellular network should automatically tell phones, and computers what time it is, not an operating system.

And the dat/time being wrong shouldn't handicap a computer!!!!!

any windows pocket pc will read the time from your computer and change your pocket pc time to match. so the hour difference will only be a problem until the next time you sync your pocket pc to your computer.

Well heck, it's nice to know I make sense to somebody!!!

I keep wondering if any of these sophisticated mobile phones such as the LG Prada!!! Will reach the U.S., probably not, interesting phone.

I'm really looking forward to later this year, this summer, and even later, I'm just really curious about the 2nd half of this year.

But more so 4g when AT&T launches MediaFlo equipped handsets.

I'm not sure I understand this...my basic as whitebread handset automatically updates daylight savings time.

So why not this?

Just to let all you people know who are hopelessly lost on a DST issue. You can chose to have the network set the time on the device.

Start > Settings > Phone > Services tab > Time Synchronization > Get settings > check the box, and hit "update now" button.

Stop whining! If you guys are seriously getting upset by this, and don't know how to change the time to network synchronization, then I don't think you should have a PDA in the first place.

Sorry about me sounding rude, but I'm tech support for a cell phone manufacturer, and I take calls form (stupid) customers all day. I expect a little more from people on Phone Scoop....

Yeah, I understand you expecting more from people on PhoneScoop, I do.

Let me ask you this though, lets say it really is as easy as you say, sure. Then why do they get all paranoid about computer chaos on the news when it comes to them being programmed wrong for date/time?

Does a computer really get handicapped that easily if it has the wrong time/date???

They don't get all paranoid on the news about it. They bring it up and make a deal cause not everyone knows how easy it is to setup the network sync and as prev noted not everyone realizes it will sync up the time when you active sync. I work in a VZW tech support call center and you would be amazed at how many pda calls we get where people don't ever sync with active sync or hotsync cause they were too stupid to look at everything in the box that came with it. I ask if they installed the Cd's and they say yeah I saw them. Sorry as a commonsense person if I saw a CD come with something I bought I would put it in and see why they bothered to put it in the box. And to answer the OP who asked why cant this change just like all the basic phones?...

It's all a problem of ignorance/laziness.

It is amazing how people can take something that is so simple, not even try, throw their hands in the air and "give up" as if they had tried.

All too often someone comes into my store asking how they delete their messages (voice mail). I have them dial into their mailbox with speakerphone on and a message plays, the mailbox ladies voice says "to delete press 7 etc etc" and the person looks at me with this blank, nobody is home, deer in headlights look. Of course I have to tell them to press 7. They don't even have the sense to listen...

I know we get it all the time in the call center. I try not to get frustrated or act like a smart aleck and have to keep telling myself if it wasn't for these not so smart/LAZY people I wouldn't have a job.

Yeah, like the original poster. I'm sure a SIMPLE google search would have given him the answer in the first, or second link. Also, did he HAVE to put 9 question marks?

People ARE lazy, and i have absolutely ZERO respect for someone who can't fend for themselves, even on the most basic of things. Such as change to time synchronization with the network....

The problem isn't about them not working, it's about the time being wrong.

If the time is wrong, then any alarms, alerts, scheduled items, will all go off at the wrong time.

I'm not sure why no one who actually owns a Windows Mobile device responded, but the phone does have time synchronization via your providers wireless network. At least on the XV6700 it does.

/Settings/Services/Time Synchronization/Get Settings/Update Now

So not really sure why this patch is needed.

This patch is needed as I noted earlier that for the people (probably 75% of the people that call into our call center) who arent smart enough to know how to do that will be able to run the update so all their scheduled events/alarms work right. of course these are also the same people who will have problems being able to install this update even though its laid out very easy and simple to do. Some people should just not own a pda.
