Verizon Launches Revision A
Verizon Rev-A is in more places than they announced!
Though Verizon launched their Rev-A network, the cities they've officially listed aren't the only places they have Rev-A turned on at. There are quite a few major markets they aren't announcing yet, for whatever reason. See for yourself by checking out a cool new google mashup at

That map isn't even completely correct. There are 3 markets near me in central Illinois that have EVDO active. One of them is Rev A, too.

Well, unfortunatley Verizon Rev.A doesn't yet appear to be in Las Vegas, but most of the cities it is in appear to be at speeds between 1.1mbps and 1.6mbps, that's not all that bad, not bad at all.
Personally, I'm going to wait and see what Cingular offers in the 2nd half of this year, that's who I have voice service with.
Or heck, maybe just the follow up to the Cingular 8525, due out in Nov. '07

cingulars behind just now getting to 3g sprints getting ready to roll out 4g. I wouldnt wait around to long....... 👀

Actually, the 4th quarter of this year is what I'm waiting for, to see exactly what Sprint is going to offer reguarding WiMax, speeds/price, then I will ultimatley decide whether or not to stay with Cingular who I've been with for 5yrs, but haven't been under contract for about 16 months.
IF Sprints far faster WiMax network forces Cingular to low prices on they're lower speeds, I'd be willing to settle for either 3.6mbps or 7.2mbps, IF Cingular ends up lowering they're prices to compete with the faster networks Sprint has.
