Cingular Launches First 3.6 Mbps HSDPA Handset
Phone faster then network?
Oh, wait, the network CAN handle it, they just dont want to yet. Even better...
It doesn't make sense to "upgrade" then entire network if only a couple devices work so far. That would cost money, which is better spent upgrading the EDGE areas to the 3G specs.
I'll tell you what, if you buy this new phone with high speed capability, I PROMISE that someday I will upgrade my behind technology Network so that in months, or years from now, your now outdated, old phone, will finally be able to work at the capacity it was built for! Great! That'll be two hundred dollars. Hurry up and wait...... Sure REGINE44 🤣 🤣 thats how phones should be sold. Get real. Cingular bites!!!!!
Excuse me for making sense! ! !

I don't even consider UMTS 3G, it's just a slight upgrade to edge,. . . now HSDPA, that's 3G!!!
UMTS can't even be compared to EVDO!!!
I'm not supporting evil Vrzn thoug!!!

Phonescoop.com (HSDPA)
An upgrade for WCDMA / UMTS networks. It doubles network capacity and increases download data speeds five-fold or more.

My apologies it should be HSDPA not UTMS so please replace everything HSDPA what i said earlier with UMTS.
I'm think about how much the Razr has already advanced compared to the network? If the best RAZR came out 2 yrs ago... it would be pointless because in that amount of time so many problems could have developed that people would already need a new phone by now thus manking the phone useless...
But you have to remember that the device maker and the service provider ARE DIFFERENT COMPANIES. Was Cingular supposed to tell Motorola to downgrade the phone? Eh?
didnt get your statement.
The carriers tell the Phone Manufacturers exactly HOW they want the phone set up. ie Treo 680, a low cost smartphone for price conscience buyers. Price conscience buyers dont get top of the line, high speed phones ie. Treo 750. The get scaled back versions.

Very good pointe!
Randy,
The issue that comes down is that we should not have devices with out of date technology. I would like to be able to purchase a phone that ready for the next generation. There are always going to be people who dont care. Sometimes internet speeds is not a decisioning factor. Example i have the southern linc 7100i blackberry. With iden thats 9kb to 14kb a second! I still receive emails receive in a good fashion time. Then i al...

And the RAZR has been old news for oh.. 2 years..
This isn't a hardware upgrade to get the network to 3.6 like GSM to UMTS you silly goose..
When did we mention a hardware upgrade?
the network is throttled to 1.8 now.. I would imagine its fairly easy to move to 3.6..
Greed

Regina I was agreeing with you.. Siesta was implying that it would be a real stretch for them to open up the 3.6 spec all over.. I was only saying its not a big deal and that they will be doing so... furthermore didn't Cingular already say they were going to roll out 7.2 Mpbs HSDPA this year?
And yes, this is still jus...

Sorry about that.

Who knows cingular keeps changing their plans all the time.
And yes, this is still just the awful Razr with a new radio.. whoop de doo..Not really cutting edge..
The RAZR needs to put to its grave and something new comeout like a phone with a touch screen (DOH! Apple doing that with cingular!) just something much cooler everyone has them the fad is over!
Wonderful! news!
If this comes through then it sounds like they will be jumping ahead of current technology.
Agreed. Just the TOS will bother me like can you use it as a home connection. This should replaced Wired internet a long time ago.
Further more the V3xx is going to be offered at a modest $100 after $50 rebate.
Very nice Price!
Cingular/at&t is already coming into this year with an agressive handset line and it looks like its only getting better. Cool
Except for the iphone only being EDGE! Agreed!
Let's not even forget how many Verizon stores sold and still sell VCAST capable phones in non-VCAST areas, for the exact same reason. Get your facts straight.
How old are you? 5?

Lower then that because he cant be professional person.
AshDizzle Statement
It makes complete sense to get the handsets out there and in people's hands before the service launches. That way when it does, people can take advantage of it immediately. Besides the fact that it has HSDPA 3.6, it's still a GOOD phone, so what the hell is the big deal?
---
Agree with you! But i would like to see more handsets and earlier release times with high speed data.

Whats that?
Is it something like this?
T-Mobile Germany is launching its fixed-mobile solution, called T-Mobile@home. The service costs an additional monthly surcharge of € 4.95 on an user's account.
Would I buy one now? No. Even if it were a BlackBerry with the promise of faster speeds in
the future?
Great that why everyone has choices in the world but at least have the handset available so i can buy it. and roaming around the world at faster data speeds.
Would you pay for internet on a RAZR that they told you wouldn't run internet for 4-5 months?
First off DUDE! You just turn around my statement incorrectly. First off you dont buy a phone dsl modem that a company cant provide you 4-...

How does this come into the conversation about WIFI. Were talking about data via cell networks not WIFI and WIFI calls! First off I know t-mobile is implementing the UMA network i just never have heard the term @home with t-mobile. I was just asking! nextime maybe i should google your name on phonescoop
and look for pervious post about you sit there all day and bash people about how dumb and stupid they are! Then maybe i can find some thing about the @home with t-m...

T-Mob will have the @home service, which will need a compatable handset. Would I buy one now? No. Even if it were a BlackBerry with the promise of faster speeds in the future? No. It just doesn't seem right. Would you pay for internet on a RAZR that they told you wouldn't run internet for 4-5 months? No, you would wait until you had the phone.

SO why get an 802.11pre-n router? Because it's new and cool ;-)
I don't think its any worse than people byuing an 802.11g or even worse 802.11pre-n WiFi router for their internet connection which only runs at 1.5Mb.
---
Katrina wireless Network Router is different the wireless phone network. People buy the the standard for the local network speeds. So if you want to transfer a file via wireless network you can do faster then using B which is 10mbs per second. Also the faster wireless network give you the ability add more nodes without slowing down the wireless access points so now N standard can take more wireless without slowing down g too much. Another way you can think of it (B standard) AMPS (N) CDMA. We all know that CDMA is faster data speeds and more capacity vs AMPS w...
