Wow, I can't wait to run out and buy a phone that is capable of fast download speeds that my network cant handle? Sign me up!

Oh, wait, the network CAN handle it, they just dont want to yet. Even better...

I think the faster speeds will be available in the next few months.

It doesn't make sense to "upgrade" then entire network if only a couple devices work so far. That would cost money, which is better spent upgrading the EDGE areas to the 3G specs.

These are how phones should be released! Ready for the next generation not stuck on edge or gprs 3g! I mean once the next set of speeds are ready the phone should be released way before the network ready to handle it so that way i am ready not waiting to buy a phone every year.

Hey buddy, come here, I've got a deal for you.
I'll tell you what, if you buy this new phone with high speed capability, I PROMISE that someday I will upgrade my behind technology Network so that in months, or years from now, your now outdated, old phone, will finally be able to work at the capacity it was built for! Great! That'll be two hundred dollars. Hurry up and wait...... Sure REGINE44 🤣 🤣 thats how phones should be sold. Get real. Cingular bites!!!!!

Lets look at this you have the blackberry perl awesome phone! Still on edge!!! common wakeup phones should be UTMS are already out and being devolp I mean t-mobile should be releasing phones with UMTS so when their ready to deploy their network by a year or two there we have the high speed ready. I have seen phones blackberry that are a year old and people are still using them

Personally, I don't consider UMTS (384kbps) high speed, far, very far from high speed!!!

I don't even consider UMTS 3G, it's just a slight upgrade to edge,. . . now HSDPA, that's 3G!!!

UMTS can't even be compared to EVDO!!!
I'm not supporting evil Vrzn thoug!!!

Phonescoop.com (HSDPA)
An upgrade for WCDMA / UMTS networks. It doubles network capacity and increases download data speeds five-fold or more.

My apologies it should be HSDPA not UTMS so please replace everything HSDPA what i said earlier with UMTS.

It would be stupid to put a phone full of technology beyond the network, because by the time the network is upgraded new phones will already be out, and they will be that much better.

I'm think about how much the Razr has already advanced compared to the network? If the best RAZR came out 2 yrs ago... it would be pointless because in that amount of time so many problems could have developed that people would already need a new phone by now thus manking the phone useless...

Very good pointe!

Randy,
The issue that comes down is that we should not have devices with out of date technology. I would like to be able to purchase a phone that ready for the next generation. There are always going to be people who dont care. Sometimes internet speeds is not a decisioning factor. Example i have the southern linc 7100i blackberry. With iden thats 9kb to 14kb a second! I still receive emails receive in a good fashion time. Then i al...

Who knows cingular keeps changing their plans all the time.

And yes, this is still just the awful Razr with a new radio.. whoop de doo..Not really cutting edge..

The RAZR needs to put to its grave and something new comeout like a phone with a touch screen (DOH! Apple doing that with cingular!) just something much cooler everyone has them the fad is over!

I was told to expect speeds of 7+Mbps this year. If this comes through then it sounds like they will be jumping ahead of current technology. Further more the V3xx is going to be offered at a modest $100 after $50 rebate. Cingular/at&t is already coming into this year with an agressive handset line and it looks like its only getting better. 😎

Agreed. Just the TOS will bother me like can you use it as a home connection. This should replaced Wired internet a long time ago.

Very nice Price!

How old are you? 5? It makes complete sense to get the handsets out there and in people's hands before the service launches. That way when it does, people can take advantage of it immediately. Besides the fact that it has HSDPA 3.6, it's still a GOOD phone, so what the hell is the big deal?

Let's not even forget how many Verizon stores sold and still sell VCAST capable phones in non-VCAST areas, for the exact same reason. Get your facts straight.

T-Mob will have the @home service, which will need a compatable handset. Would I buy one now? No. Even if it were a BlackBerry with the promise of faster speeds in the future? No. It just doesn't seem right. Would you pay for internet on a RAZR that they told you wouldn't run internet for 4-5 months? No, you would wait until you had the phone. I think it goes both ways...

Whats that?
Is it something like this?
T-Mobile Germany is launching its fixed-mobile solution, called T-Mobile@home. The service costs an additional monthly surcharge of € 4.95 on an user's account.

Would I buy one now? No. Even if it were a BlackBerry with the promise of faster speeds in

Great that why everyone has choices in the world but at least have the handset available so i can buy it. and roaming around the world at faster data speeds.

And the @home is like WiFi, but T-Mob will have phones that can piggyback off it, basically for stronger signal. Good job pointing out who has it and what it costs, maybe you should have taken the one extra step to figure out what it is...

First off I know t-mobile is implementing the UMA network i just never have heard the term @home with t-mobile. I was just asking! nextime maybe i should google your name on phonescoop

I don't think its any worse than people byuing an 802.11g or even worse 802.11pre-n WiFi router for their internet connection which only runs at 1.5Mb. The highest speed home service I have ever seen is only 12Mb which, yeah, you might want an 802.11g router for, but the average is 3Mb which 802.11b could more than handle.
SO why get an 802.11pre-n router? Because it's new and cool ;-)

Katrina wireless Network Router is different the wireless phone network. People buy the the standard for the local network speeds. So if you want to transfer a file via wireless network you can do faster then using B which is 10mbs per second. Also the faster wireless network give you the ability add more nodes without slowing down the wireless access points so now N standard can take more wireless without slowing down g too much. Another way you can think of it (B standard) AMPS (N) CDMA. We all know that CDMA is faster data speeds and more capacity vs AMPS w...
