No quad band
Wierd that it's only tri-band... first moto in a long time that hasn't been quad-band, a high end moto anyways.

There is only one person to thank for that. The Carrier. Another great idea from Cingular. I guess they're not interested in selling it to people who travel abroad, where it could actually perform at speeds it was designed for.

What does speeds have to do with Quad-band?
Quad-band GSM is slow. You must be talking about Tri-Band HSDPA which only the 8525 and Treo 750 have.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesnt frequency band, 800, 850 etc only dictate where the phone can be used? Maybe HSDPA is only available on one of the three bands offered on this phone (V3xx).

The phone is a triband phone, in terms of its GSM frequencies; it operates on GSM bands 850/1800/1900. However, it also operates no HSPDA 850/1900. In essence, it operates on five-bands GSM 850/1800/1900 and WCDMA (HSPDA) 850/1900.

Actually it is a great idea. Cingular is trying to appeal to the masses. The RAZR is a form factor of mass appeal and most Americans do not travel outside the US so often that the extra band is crucial in their purchasing decision. By excluding the the 900 band--and other v3xx goodies--Cingular lowered the price of the phone so it could have a very-affordable price thus more people buy the 3g phone and take advantage of Cingular Video, Cingular Music, etc...and get a data plan = lots of dough. If Cingular were to advertise mainly to business users, although potentially lucrative, it would NOT get as much money.
BTW, it has domestic dual-band HSPDA; the tri-band status (GSM) has nothing to do with 3g data speeds thus Cingular is selling a ...
