Scalpel??? Cmon now...
Not a fan of that name. Scalpel has a lot of negative associations. When I get a phone, I don't want to think about having knee surgery. Its a more graphic word, and for marketing purposes, I don't think its a good idea.
Now, I know razor can have bad connotations, but it can also have positive ones. When I think scalpel...I ONLY think of surgery or cutting flesh--two things that I don't think should be associated with a phone.
What do you guys think?
Chris

yeah dude, scalpel's freak me out i dont know why. nothing good can come out of that name. i aint buyin the thing!

hopefully they make a more marketable name, i know i would sound rediculous "hey, i got the new scapel" it sounds bad.
...
and like saying a bout a new razr sounded any better when they first came out... no one cares when i i go buy razors to shave but when you meantion "razor" the first thing that comes to most peoples minds are the cell phones... if they keep the name scpl everyone will begin to think the same...

SCPL is a platform, not necessarily the product name. RAZR was a platform that happened to include RAZR in many of it's products but not all (PEBL, SLVR).
The first SCPL was already launched, albeit the low end version, MotoFONE F3 without including it in it's name.

... most likely they will end up giving one of the phones in the line the name... the phone will be one inch wide, 3/8 inch thick and 7 inches long closed, 14 inches open and will have a definitive point on the end kinda of scalpel like..
