hopefully, moto will keep their MOTOCRAP over away from at&t/cingular. we've had enough of their overpriced, horrible products! 🙂 if the v3i and k1 are $199, what will the 3g devices be? $299 or $399? Pointless for a standard handset (non-PDA)! And then they'll drop calls and fall apart! 🤣 No Thank You, Sir.

Don't be so quick to judge an entire company off your bad experiences with a device. If it wasn't for the V3, Cingular would not be where it is right now. Motorola's phones GET ADDS, and as long as they keep bringing in the adds then cing/at&t will keep carrying them. I own a slew of Motos and I don't have problems.

every motorola i've owned and every one my friends have owned didn't work worth a crap! there is an exception to every rule, but statistically speaking motorola make terrible products. oh, and the cingular comment, we probably would have kept a lot of customers from leaving if they purchased a nokia or sony instead of the pretty over priced v3 that dropped calls. (i got two from work free and they both drop calls)

You and your friends are not statistics, maybe you just have bad coverage. 🤣

You and your friends are not statistics

but all the customers that brought them back into the store when i worked there are. we sold more nokias and motorolas than any other handset. a few nokias came back. a LOT of craporolas came back in! 😲

maybe you just have bad coverage

if it was bad coverage, my 8525, w600, s710, 7100g, 6230, 8125, etc would ALL drop calls. they don't. nope, it's definitely suckorola! 😉

It's funny, because out of all the people I know who happen to own phones from Motorola (and there's quite a few of them thanks to the RAZR), very few are unhappy with their phones. The ones who complain are the exception, not the other way around.

Right now I own a Motorola Ming and it is hands down the BEST phone I've ever had. Seriously. When I talk to people long distance on my cell phone, they are amazed; they can't believe I'm not a landline. And then when I do call them from a landline, they always remark that I sounded clearer on my Moto phone.

So I beg to differ, Moto phones are not crap. The fact that all of your friends have had bad experience with them leads me to believe that it's your network, and not your phone.

one more time for the slow people! network problems CANNOT be fixed by switching your sim to another phone, only phone problems. i could use your same logic by saying that your ming isn't the reason your calls sound so clear, it's your network. not true, but i could say it. the quality of motorola compared to other manufactures such as nokia, sony ericsson, and htc has been proven many times by handsets being dropped or delayed from cingular for quality issues. the v220, v190, mpx220, v3i, k1, the list goes on. it's not just my friends, it's customers as well.

i'm glad you have a great experience with motorola. wonderful for you. that doesn't change the fact that their products are lower quailty than other manufactures. right now i use an...

It's debatable whether Motorola makes generally superior or inferior products, and as with all consumer electronics, there will be huge batches of defective or quasi defective product. No cell phone manufacturer is immune to this, and there's really no way to definitively say which brands are more prone to this. True, reps for the various companies notice trends, but actual numbers of what phones are more consistently defective than others, there's no way to know.

However, what can be easily measured is the cost/features/value of a phone compared to others. At this, Motorola is clearly a loser - the phones they sell are barely on par with other manufacturers, and as is evidenced above, they're hardly worth the money that is demanded fo...

What blatant lies. I mean, just outrageously made up stories.

Motorola is moving less product than they have in years past? Sales are down? Marketshare dropping? Won't be too long before they're gone?

Motorola has GAINED marketshare through the 4Q quarter. Sales in the mobile devices unit were up 47% having moved more units than they ever have in history at nearly 66 million handsets. Revenue (the sum of money collected from all goods sold) was up 17%. They beat forecasts across the board on that level.

What dropped was PROFIT. The reason why you saw negative stories and an abandonment by some investors was PROFIT. Their profit margins on handsets dropped to nearly 4%, altogether raking in a "measely" $624 million in pr...

True that. Both Notorola and Nokia are well know for thier handsets, even more than LG or Sanyo if I may add; Ever since the RAZR was brought up with other carriers (i.e., Sprint), i have heard more complains about LG and Samsung phones than Motorola or even UTStarcom phones!

Who do you think I am? Some sort of plant for Samsung or Nokia? It's one thing to say I don't know what I'm saying (which could be always be argued on the internet), but to say I'm intentionally lying? Eh. . . no.

And dude, what's with the double post? You have to say it twice? Last time I checked, that doesn't make it more true (unless you're the President, apparently 😉 )

A drop in profit from 1 billion to 624 million is a big deal - that's roughly FOUR HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS, which is, let's see. . . almost half of their total profit. I used to work for a little company called AT&T wireless, and they were hemmoraging profit just as badly, and, well, you know the rest.

The market share stuff is debatable - I'm g...

Everything CoreyTheGent stated regarding Motorola's numbers were fact, not speculation. They did sell more phones than they ever had. Market share did go up. Revenue was up. Profits are a problem and I feel it's due to their aging product lineup. In the US particularly, I can't recall any new GSM handset all of last year other than the already old V3i.

I wouldn't go as far as calling you a liar, just mis-informed.

But you also agree with me (and others) that their phone lineup is growing stale. They're not out of the game yet, but they have some serious work to do to regain momentum. There are much more knowledgable people than me are saying similar things, and the loss in profit is a Big Deal.

But kudos, raulr - criticize me for being misinformed, that's much better.

Exactly. I agree, I think you were just misinformed however, I do agree with you 110% about their lineup. They are far from the Startac days although the RAZR has taken off. I could care less about Motorola anyway. To me, it's junk. Always have, always will. I roll my eyes everytime I see some dork with a RAZR. The most overrated POS I have ever seen. I cringe everytime I have to sell one. There is so much better people, really. 🙄

But anyway don't take $hit from these lame a$$ Motorola fanboys. Anyone who uses "pwned" and "n00b" and "STFU" has no credibility whatsoever. All because you surf PhoneScoop several...

Me, or hyper-vigilant Corey & his cadre of Moto fanboyz (ooh - there's a comic idea right there) or ... ? 😕

But I'd be careful about criticizing people who use this site - I'm stuck at a desk for 7 hours of my work day, often with nothing to do but browse the net. That doesn't mean I have no life - as a matter of fact, I'm married with a daughter, so I've had sex at least once. 😛 😉

And I was using 1337 ironically, as do most 1337 users.
