I wonder...
I wonder if this will be a Sidekick specifically for the hearing impaired. That would be cool if it was more affordable as most that can't hear just need to text and don't need Bluetooth headsets or an MP3 player. It also could be a version for Suncom as they offer Hiptop's similar to T-Mobile's. I guess I'll find out in a few months. 😎

They are updating the software on it so you can use myfaves "more effectively". Stripping off the extra features for those who dont want them. Haven't heard anything about the looks changing yet.

The first is going to be the "Sidekick ID". It's a lighter version of the Sidekick 3 with no camera, no MP3 player, and no Bluetooth. Supposedly very very thin.

krum, you get a gold star! i didn't think of that, but it makes perfect sense. the SK is very popular with deaf people since it provides a hip, affordable text messaging platform (and it interoperates with every major messenger and TTY service). and it's true that the deaf crowd is not going to need a BT headset or mp3 player. plus, if by dropping those features as well as the camera (which was never all that good) danger really can make something significantly thinner and sexier, then they could use this version to attract a broader market. i think it sounds pretty good.

The price on a new Sidekick III is $199.99. The Sidekick III is and Sidekick II are not different. The look, mp3 player, bluetooth, and 1.3 mega pixel camera are the differences. Although the OS is the same the look is different and the MP3 is for music lovers. The bluetooth is weak, and the 1.3 mega pixel camera does not seem to compare with other phones that 1.3 mega pixel camera. Meaning getting rid of the low quality features and stripping it down will make it cheaper and some sense better.

Plus, if they made a new OS that could sync with a PC better, this could be competition for BlackBerry. Lots of companies don't want their employees "playing" with their devices (camera, MP3's, internet), just messenging and email. And few devices email as well as a BlackBerry or Sidekick. 🙂
