What is wrong with cingular/at&t?...this is horribly uncompetitive...so basically they are saying for a minimum of 60 bucks plus however much at&t charges for a land line you can call your home phone as much as you want...

hmmm...sprint will let you add that to any plan for 5 bucks a month...no matter what kind of land line you have.

so you are saying:

ATT:
Cell phone cost + home phone cost = final cost and you get everything on one bill with free calling to any number on ATT anywhere.

Sprint:
Cell phone cost + landline cost + 5 bucks = final cost. you still get 2 bills and can only call free to one number?

i would say the ATT option is better in terms of a landline calling opt...

you're not missing anything; Sprint's plan only allows calls to 1 number aside from wireless. this could be a turning point in the wireless industry. The ability to call ANY home phone on that plan without charges on home or cell phone is indeed a new one; what remains to be seen is how successful they will be in transitionin and keeping people with their service. 👀 Time will tell.

🤣 🤣 and again this is useless to customer who have cingular but are in an area dominated by a different landline comapny in the area... and how do you know if someone has an att landline.. you may think they have one and it doesn't... does it tell you when you are calling an att landline... come on... cell phones area easy you can normally tell by the exchange or easily by asking... but now imagine calling someone on their home phone... " hey do you have an att landline because i don't wanna waste my anytime minutes." seriously...

Where I live at, Most of Lake County Indiana is served by at&t land line service. Lake of the Four Seasons is served by NITCO (a rural land line company that serves Newton & Jasper Counties, plus Lake of the Four Seasons in Lake County, plus Hebron and a few other rural towns in Porter County), and Verizon serves Hobart, New Chicago, Lake Station, and southeastern Merrillville Indiana. So the Cingular/AT&T users in the Verizon land line area are screwed when it comes to calling local land line users.

Yeah, this would be great for me...if AT&T provided any land-line service where I live or where any of my family lives. 100 million people doesn't really matter if I don't know any of them. I have T-Mobile MyFaves but that still is limited to five numbers and I'm limited to the phones I can use...maybe someday, some carrier will have the network to support unlimited calls nationally. Probably never, though, regardless of what the companies say, I'm sure they make money off of overage. 😕

what about Metro PCS? I personally use T-Mobile, but Metro PCS while in limited areas does offer unlimited calling to anyone, anytime, as long as your in your coverage area. I'm sure they are working on expanding their coverage.. how do u think that will stack up towards the major carriers if they are offering unlimited minutes regardless of network, or land-line?

and I'm sure after using the service for one month, it wouldn't bee too hard to figure out who was with ATT based on which calls were free.

Yeah, it's always good thinking to NOT have a working phone in the house in case of emergency.

Theres nothing like the reliability of a landline because it will never drop a call.

It's only as good as the power supplied to the lines. So if a major storm hit, most older communities might be without landline service since the lines are usually above ground, while most new subdivisions have the cables underground. Same goes with underground, just as long as they're not damaged by a digger, or an underground animal.

Well...if the phone lines are knocked over you might have some problems. But chances are a landline will work over a cell phone after a hurricane.

Obviously you're from a state where Hurricanes don't hit 10 times a year.

Here in South Florida, nothing works after a hurricane. Including cell phones, Mr. Eyerolling McGenius.
