For 2GB capacity that you must purchase in addition to the phone for around $50 or more? And no WiFi, no 850 MHz, and lower resolution LCD.

What kind of stupid point are you trying to make. WalMart sells belts for $5 and prada for $500. you do the math...
Do you want Prada to sell their phone for $49.
It the name and status symbol.

nah they will sell iphones before this crap....i started my first week at california state university, fullerton this week and the big talk of each class was the iphone, 95% of the class raised their hands on whether or not they are purchasing one, and that was the average for each class

i think the prada may be coming out but people wont even be turning their heads for it...sorry

yeah, I understand how the world works in terms of marketing and mark-up. But everyone was freaking out about the price of the iphone, and this phone is more expensive and has way less features. I understand that you can charge a premium price for a phone with prada on it, but $775? Cmon now.

Listen, i am on your side. Do you think $500 for a belt or 1K for shoes is fair. I can't afford that and even if I had the money, i would rather give it away than spend that kind of money. Thats why I shop at walmart. They carry expensive stuff that cost $1000, but there is a value to it (eg computer). but a belt or shoes cost 50 buck max. that was the point i was trying to make.

Remember how expensive cell phones were when the first one with a color screen came out. same thing here. if touch screen is successful, someone will make it for a couple of hundred.

this is crap.. phones are becomming more expensive than laptops... I already paid $200 for my Samsung T809. I love the phone but seriously... This is getting out of hand... It should not cost someone thousands of dollars to buy 2 iphones with accessories... not to mention having to turn around and do it again in a few years to buy a new one because you know people will when there's an upgrade.... That is way too much money to be spending...

Not to mention being a light- moderate video gamer...

can you imagine how much money you would be spending if you bought the Wii, Xbox 360, Play Station 3, games n controllers? Then we'll throw in the video ipod , along with 2 iphones (one for mom n dad) plus accessories. That's easily well over $3,...

If you don't like it, stop buying expensive gadgets. If you think about it, cell phones and video games haven't inflated that much. When PS1 came out is was $299, whats the price of xbox core system...$299...No one is forcing you to buy all of this stuff. If can afford it, then get the free phone, instead of dropping $200

Chris

P.S. Inflation is part of life...we make more, companies charge us more for products.

It's not just about Prad's name.. it's about image... They don't want just anyone carrying around the phone... They want rich people to carry it around for image purposes..

Could you imagine a bunch of grandparents, and your mom n dad with one like the RAZR? The RAZR wasn't as kewl once everyone on the planet had one...

Yeah but do you really need MicroSD when you have 8 gigs of hard drive space and USB? My laptop doesn't even have 8 gigs of hard drive space. Then again, it's just an old Pentium I and it pretty much just acts as a legal pad, but still.

And for $800 this phone isn't very impressive. For $400 this thing doesn't even look that appealing. Looks like it doesn't have an FM radio. Its hard drive is nowhere near as big as the iphone's. Standard 2 mp camera with no optical zoom. Probably cheesy QCIF video too. It just looks like a dolled up PDA phone with a bigger hard drive.

If I were to pay $800 dollars for a phone it better have a waterproof HD camcorder or a REAL computer built into it. I'm not talking about PDAs. I'm talking abo...

Is the $775 full retail or with a 2 yr agreement, that might be the pricing difference

i thought you usually had to pay full retail for these speciality designer phones? I could be wrong though.

The iPhone is $500 & $600 WITH contract - this is just shy of $800 without - that's a huge difference. And that's before any charges & plan requirements Cingular will have. People who want to buy this without a contract will end up paying $900 - $1000 easily.

Phones are NEVER more expensive with a contract. PERIOD. it generally knocks off $200+ v.s. retail price. do your research. 🤣

the iphone is a waaaaayyyyy more advanced phone. This LG is basically just a regular form with a touchscreen....I really don't think the feature set is anything special.

You'd realize I factored in the cost of the plan(s), and the fact that many people that buy this phone will do so at the no-commitment price, which is sure to be much more than $775. Yes, a phone with a contract is going to be cheaper than one with no contract, but if you do that reasearch, and a little math, you'd see that the iPhone will be, in fact, much more expensive than this phone, despite this being $775.

Cingular is not going to sell this phone without a contract, period.

The only way a person can get this phone without a contract is if they pay the $600, then pay the ETF to break the contract. That's $775, the same as this Prada phone.

Since that pretty much levels the field as far as cost goes, next thing to compare is feature set. iPhone is the clear winner in this regard, you just can't say that a device with 8 gigs of storage ...

yeah but the thing is, when you shell out that $775 you're getting an unlocked phone, right? if you shell out that same amount for the iphone you get a phone that you cant use. period. the iphone is not unlockable so it'd be a waste to do that unless you want to put it on ebay. in the end the prada phone seems to be cheaper. but what i wanna ask is this...are either of them even worth it?

There you go, you've just proven my point!

From what I understand Cingular had to work out some things on their end in order for certain features (like visual voicemail) on this phone to work. So you're right, this phone would lose some of it's functionality if you were to break contract with Cingular and take it to another provider like T-Mobile.

In other words, breaking your contract and paying the ETF wou...

that's actually one of the few intelligent responses i think i've ever read on here. i love the idea of the iphone just like i love the idea of this phone but the more i learn about each of them, the less i want them. i guess i'm just too picky.
