Cingular turning to ATT

Does anyone know about our contracts? My husband and I love cingular and they are the only ones in our area we can get coverage. Do we know anything about roll over minutes?

Most of all changes to our bill? If this will bring new charges my husband and I will not be happy. I know it might just be a few upings here and there. But, they sent out no prior notification or anything. Nothing explaining what is going on. Which kind of makes me mad... you would think they would keep current customers in the loop.

Plus, I like the little orange guy better than some stupid globe.

It's only the brand that will be changing - nothing else.

This isn't like AT&T Wireless being absorbed by Cingular. That was one wireless company merging into another. In this case, Cingular's parent companies are changing, but everything directly associated with Cingular isn't changing a bit.

Rich, I think you should write another FAQ thing like you did with the AWS auction, and go over the facts of the name change. The AWS auction educated so many people and was so well written I'd love to see all the facts that well organized again on this subject.

I don't really think it's necessary.

This is nothing like the Cingular acquisition of AT&T Wireless. That was a full-scale merger and integration of two previously separate companies.

This is merely a re-branding of one existing company. Absolutely everything stays exactly the same except the name and logo.

There will be some new bundling offers if you also have AT&T for landline, Internet or TV, but other than that, it's business as usual.

Rich, can you post this in a neon banner script at the top of every thread page that even mentions Cingular/AT&T? 😉

That's what I'm talking about, no one seems to get this.

it's not confusing in terms of what's being done. that's quite simple. it's just confusing for customers because the name on their bill keeps changing every few years!

it is simply a name change. in some areas, you'll be able to get DSL and TV on the same bill or order DSL is stores. there may even be some sort of plans that may include calling to AT&T landline customers or something like that. who knows. only good things to come!

they had to wait for gov't approval to announce they were one company. and cingular has been owned partial by at&t since sbc purchased them over a year ago.
