Maybe so, but not with Video Voice mail.. trust me, this is the big catch. It may be GSM, but VV is going to be some sort of Apple-licensed technology!

Visual (not Video) Voicemail is not an Apple innovation. Comverse and other infrastructure providers have been demoing that at trade shows for years. I've always been a fan, and never understood why no one picked it up.
It just took Apple to realize the value and make it a requirement of their Cingular partnership.
In Cingular's iPhone press conference, they made it clear that Visual Voicemail is NOT exclusive to the iPhone and they may offer it on other Cingular phones.
