I use Sprint, and we have a great plan, so I won't be switching carriers. BUT, since it has built in wifi, can't we use it on wireless networks and use ichat and such? I know it's alot, but I would pay 500 for it.Another option might be to just subscribe to their $20 unlimited data plan, with no min.

there is no $20 data plan with out voice. the smartphone connect requires voice. the chepeast stand alone data plan is $44.99 pda connect.
...
Yes, there is. http://business.cingular.com/businesscenter/p lans/dataconnect.jsp
It is 20 without voice.

I can copy and paste too. 😁 voice has to be added. this is current info from csp.
...
That's great that you can copy/paste. on the BUSINESS link, the one I sent you, you DO NOT. It says so right in the text. Now, the only thing to wait on is to see if they consider this a smartphone.
The right wireless data plan to fit your business.
You can select from a range of data service plans to fit your needs, with plans starting at just $19.99 per month as well as Unlimited plans for heavy data users. For mobile workers who need voice in addition to their data capabilities, add an optional voice plan to a qualified data plan and receive $5 off the monthly service charge of your data plan.”
Cingular's data devices are grouped into four categories. Choose the one that makes the most sense for the way you like to work.

yes, you are correct in everything you have there. but that doesn't change the fact that there is no stand alone code in CARE or TELEGENCE to make a $19.99 smartphone connect plan. it is an add on feature. just letting you know! if it's not classified as a data device, it you will def have to get a voice paln to use the WiFi. but being that is OS X, it should be smartphone, but knowing my company, they'll classify it as a pda and charge the pda connect prices.

Alright, thanks. I did not mean to sound like a jerk. I am just freaking out because now I can't have my iphone! Our plan with Sprint is a family plan, and we hate cingular, so here's hoping that it will just work with the wifi. Chances?
...
it cool. just wanted to get ya straight! hate is such a strong word! doubtful, it is a GSM handset. like with most without a SIM installed it won't work. not sure how apple configured the device, but $599 is a lot to spend on a phone that you can't use as a phone. 😲
...
i'd agree with you but that link just doesnt seem to work on either of my pc's or devices.
also it would be a wise idea to find out what the ” equals. i know you can get bb connect without voice, and pda connect without voice, however im having a rough time finding even in the business data brochure i have in my hand finding where it says smartphone connect can be used without voice. i'll check pos and see if i can activate just a samrtphone connect plan.
...
look at the little 1 beside "Discount for Voice Plan¹" it's at the bottom of the page. it even looks like they did away with the 44.99 data connect for reatil. there's only the pda max stand alone for 54.99 with 1000 text/mms messages.
...
That's 500 with a 2 year agreement. Just a couple of cents to throw into the pile.
...
yep, add at least $150 with no contract! 😲

The WIFI should work without a cingular plan, as the WIFI does not go over the Cingular data or voice network.
