Will there be a 3g version in the future?

Most likely. Apple is already talking about this as a lineup of products, not just one device.

3G would be a natural feature to add eventually, although that might not be the next product in the sequence. The next one might focus on being smaller or cheaper, for example. We really don't know...

Steven Jobs in his NYTimes headline stated that the hardware is already in ver1 of the iphone, just waiting to decide on if they want to give out the software for the phone to drain more battery in very patchy areas...well see

It sounds like you think the version shipping to Europe and Asia will be the same as what they announced?

I figured it was shipping to Europe 6 months later [end of 2007 instead of June] so they would add 3G to it, since most European countries don't have edge and 3G is such a part of their networks [and b/c gprs is just too slow]. While allowing fanatics to try and get one earlier from the US.
