Why not? You only live once. I'll give it three months to get the bugs worked out. You know, listen to everyone complain about how the battery isn't all that great and how they're on their third one cause the touchscreen went out. The signal is patchy, and they need to sell it unlocked...blah blah blah. Three months w/ no MAJOR problems, like slowness, constant restarts, total shutdown, screen cracks, pixel problems...I'm getting one! I might just dive deep into the Apple way of life. Buy a MacBook Pro, start rocking black turtlenecks. FYI Steve jobs and I were born on the same day. The 224 in my name is for February 24th.

No phone can stay "in" for a year now, that's why the iPhone will not be my next choice.

I will defeiantly buy it, I am so tired of uninspired companies. It is funny that Apple can make suck incrediable products just by doing the obvious. It really makes you wonder who are designing the current phones designs. Bean counters.

3 Jeers to Apple.

Just a reminder...a cancelled number can't port so you would actually want to call Cingular first to begin the port, not T-Mobile, then your T-Mobile service cancels once your number is active @ AT&T. Just FYI. Very Happy

Absolutely. Like ahopkins24 said, I'll give them a few months to debug and update their software then I am buying it. It is so superior to anything out there or anything the rumor mill says is coming. The naysayers will be out in force just like the people who still want to argue that windows is a better OS than OS X is. Time will tell, but it looks like they have another winner on their hands.

When reviewed, it reviews well.

There is alot of stuff in this phone and my fear is that it will be buggy.

I'm already going through that with my 2nd enV.

If it reviews well I will buy 2 8 GB models.

One is for me, the other would be for my daughter.

And honestly, if the phones are good, I don't see them as being that expensive. You get what you pay for.

I agree, you get what you pay for.
I just think it's EXTREMELY dissapointing that it's not an HSDPA device, otherwise, yes, if it was, I'd probably jump on it!!!

That TRUE Safari browser is super attractive to me, none of this scaled down crap, true web pages. Finally!!!

I have heard the reason for the June launch was for the HSDPA to be enabled in the phone and for Cingular to be renamed AT&T.
...

Jan 18, 2007, 9:25 PM
I've heard the Cingular/ATT thing also, but keep in mind that the iPhone is not hard branded as Cingular, only on the top of the screen, not the actual device.

Reguarding the HSDPA:
I haven't heard that, do you have a link you can copy/past that has a quote directly from either Steve Jobs, or a Cingular official?

That would change how I feel about the device quite a bit.

It does have a STANDARD 3.5mm headphone jack, right? So I can use ANY headphones???

I work at for a company that deals with cingular and it has been said to us verbally that this is the reason on the push back. regarding your earphone question it is true. you can use your Bose earphones with this device. assuming you have one. Smile

I'm due for an upgrade as of March, so with this phone coming around in June or so, I will likely spring for it. I agree that I may also wait out any possible "bugs", but time will tell. The innovation is quite interesting.

Oh, it would be the 8gb model if I go with it. All or nothing.

Jan 11, 2007, 7:49 PM
Heck, twice the memory for only $100 more, I agree there.

Refresh my memory, how many songs is 8GB's equivalent to again? I think 4,000.

I betcha Steve Jobs didn't have the foresight to design it in such a way that the bottom of it would be compatible with all existing iPod accessories,. . .heck yes if that was the case,. . .but I doubt it.

wont happen till 2009, sorry....but the phone wont work at all if it doesnt recognize its on a cingular network, you wont get past the unlock screen...they want you to have cingular to even use the ipod etc...and unlocking to tmobile will still not allow anything else usable on the phone

i heard in New York and other cities, people buy after market black ear plugs for their ipods because the white wire is a tell tell sign that they have a ipod and they become a target. I bet we hear horror stories of people getting jacked for their ipones. i hope they put some kind of security feature it that you can lock the phone remotely if that happens. i know cdma phones cannot be activated if they are reported stolen. what do you guys think

Here's the answer:

http://www.wikihow.com/Find-the-IMEI-Number-on-a-Mob ... »

The carrier could thus use the number to remotely disable the phone in the event it is stolen or reported lost and customize data content to be compatible with the type of equipment used, among other things.

haha i will still be on a contract for about 4 months after the iphone comes...when it comes out i will definitly have to make the decision right then, i will most likely cancel t-mobile and buy the phone. We will just see, if i hear bad things the first week it is out, i will wait till the contract is done. First is first, i must test the phone out the day it comes out at my apple store next door Smile

While listening to the keynote I was certainly caught in the Jobs Reality Distortion Field. When it comes down to it, I'll probably wait at first. I love the concept of the phone but I'd like to see the bugs get worked out, and how will they address some of the points brought up here. (future 3G upgrades, battery life, other carriers, 3rd party app development, etc.)

If I go ahead with it then I'll probably opt for the 4GB model. I don't mind using iTunes so switching out content should be a cinch.

My contract with Cingy is set to expire within a month or so, so the timing for me is perfect.

I really love my Motorola Ming, though... so I'm still not sure. Plus the iPhone is pretty darn expensive.

What I'm probably going to do is wait several months like someone else on this forum stated, and see if there are any bugs that will need fixing.
