Yep, I definetly like that, standardization is a huge plus, that way if most phones had micro-USB, and my phone was almost dead, and I was at someone's house, and they had the same charger, bing bang boom, I could charge my phone using they're charger.

Well, those are my thoughts.

So, you want to buy a charger and leave it at every friend/familys house and their vehicles? What they meant was it would be handy to use somebody Else's charger without buying one for every place you MIGHT need to charge your phone. It's not being cheap. It's convenience.

I like the idea of a standard charger. While I wouldn't necessarily want to borrow someone else's charger, the idea is a good one though. That way, people wouldn't have to buy new chargers everytime we buy new phones. Most likely, Nokia & Motorola will implement this on their phones. I definitely see Motorola implementing this because they already use mini-USB, and working out better than their old charging ports did. I highly doubt Samsung will implement this. Samsung already modified their charging ports so people like me couldn't use their chargers for the a650 on the a930. I don't know if LG will implement this or not. I'd be surprised if Kyocera implements this, or Pantech.

I think it's because of people like YOU that proprietary technologies even exist, there should be a lot of things out there that are STANDARD, it's far more cost effective.

What is this communism? How can you possibly consider forcing businesses to use any one charging port? That is what a communist govt woujld do. We are a free market here in the US, free market means choice to use whatever charger the manufacturer feels is best.

But is it about what the phone makers can do to make sure no charger every works on another phone, definitely from another manufacturer and many times from the same brand. You always hear how phone manufacturers make their money on the accessories and this is a major way for them [by not standardizing].

Wouldn't you like to be able to use accessories from your old phone on your new one? How many old car chargers do you have or have you thrown out because the connector for your new phone was different?

I know I would love to have to only carry one charging cord for my phone, camera, etc.

This requires standardization.

I actually do not really care about ahving to buy a new charger, I normally donate my old phone qand accessories to some sort of charity so that domestic abuse victims have a phone and charger to use when they need it. As far as one charger working for everything I think it is a pipe dream.

Except it's not a pipe dream.

There are phones and cameras that both use mini USB now.

Will it be the same micro usb that htc is using on the 3125? It seems to work well and would meet the size requirements they're looking for.
