Don't think this will catch... Hope this doesn't catch...

Maybe it's just me, but mini-USB seems just fine, and I think we need to stay the course with it and ride the technology out to fruition. My thoughts:

1) It's small enough. Anything smaller is just rediculous, or lazily designed to not allow enough room for a mini connection to fit.

2) My main reason for not liking this: mini-USB seems to just be getting pretty standardized. People have mini-usb cables for their digital cameras, their bluetooth headsets, their video cameras, MP3 players, their many different model phones, etc... and it's all the same cable. It's not too difficult to find a cable to charge the phone with when in need, or even transfer data... switching to micro-USB means that even if other industries grab hold, it'...

I think it is a great idea. We, as an industry and even as a country, should never stimiey ingenuity and advancement. The US is already so far behind Asia as far as technology we should never not adopt and use a newer technology, advancement is key.

This is likely in response to the recent announcement by both the Chinese and So. Korean governments MANDATING that ALL cell phones will now be required to have standardized Charging, Data, and Earphone connectors.

Should help with the car hardwired set up costs when I change phones. Plus all the ludicrous cables etc left over from a myriad of phones et al.

Now lets move on to the other devices...whose/whats next.

I don't think the mini-usb is exactly "behind" in technology as far as the U.S. and Asia goes...

I do agree that the need for better technology in our country needs to be addressed.

Also in reponse to the first thread, it's not going to take years and years to become widespread... once they make it the standard that's it... all other usb devices will stop being produced and then the micro will be mass produced and then sent out...
