Cingular on the other hand says they cover 160 metro areas and only covers 137 cities.
If anyone has ever been to Allentown, it is not a "metro area" by any stretch of the imagination.. If anything it is part of the Philadelphia metro area.
When they say metro areas, I believe they are talking about the town (allentown) and surrounding cities. It wouldn't be feasible to list every town as it's covered.

Nope nothing in WI. Last year I was told Madison would be up by this past November.
Sad really......
Milwaukee/Madison are slated for Q12007. Most of the towers are already in place. Everything is in the final testing phase for these areas.

I dig their voice services but stay far away if you depend on data.
I have an LG CU500 TETHERED to my laptop and get awesome speeds in AZ, so there has got to be something going on on your end if you are using a laptop card.
What kind of card are you using, and on what kind of plan? Also, what software are you using to connect?
How is the 3g service there for Cingy?
Thanks,
Other than that, 3G is awesome. On internet speed tests I get around 400-600 kbps, but I live in the college neighborhood around the U of A, so I'm sure the channels are hogged by people accessing the net around that area and campus.
I use a CU500 with the MEdia Max 1000 plan, I wouldn't give it up for anything. CU500 is the best phone I've ever had.
My main intent was not to "flame" Cingular's data service - I've been a customer of Houston Cellular/Cingular for almost 13 years. However my main point was to state how easy it is for a company to advertise (and brag on) a cutting-edge service and how difficult it is to support and deliver said service. They continue with the full-page ads in USA Today touting their data service, when in reality, it's poorly implemen...

Ash, it's really a long story. Has to do with 3G hand-offs from UMTS/HSDPA back to EDGE, signal strength, and dropped connections. I've worked in the wireless industry for a number of years, and Cingular are playing "games" with their customers and the FCC. But this is just my conspiracy theory and I don't want to bore you.

I only count 137 cities here, and these are cities not markets because many of these cities fall in the same market as others in the list. Way to cheat your way to the top again Cingular. I'll be sticking with my Sprint high speed, thanks!
