It look like these two are pretty similar in terms of features and styling. Any opinions on which would be better to get? I'm planning on upgrading by the end of the year. Thanks for your input...

Well it all depends if you travel outside the United States a lot (especially to Europe). The only difference between these 2 phones is that the V710 is AMPS(analog) and CDMA and the A840 is CDMA and GSM. Notice that the A840 has a little global logo on the outside cover. GSM is the standard throughout the world so if Verizon Wireless (the service provider who will offer these phones) has roaming agreements where you travel, then the A840 will work in those areas. The V710 will work only in the United States and the few other areas which have CDMA coverage. Basically the A840 is a world phone and the V710 is a local phone.

The V710 has Bluetooth, while the A840 has world roaming (GSM). Other than that, yes, they're very similar.

This Motorola document on the A840 doesn't mention Bluetooth.

But what's stange is that I printed a copy of this document 2 days ago and my hard copy has Bluetooth on the key features list (and yes I'm looking at the right one). It looks like they updated it since then.

If you're curious to see the Motorola document for the V710, here it is.

aviduzer, are you going to trust an article from InfoSyncWorld or a document from Motorola's web site? I printed the Motorola PDF document for the A840 the other day and it listed Bluetooth and now it doesn't. I have a hard copy to scan if you want proof. I'm guessing that the feature list was wrong and it was updated.

I believe I have that same document. Mine says "Bluetooth Wireless Technology support". That doesn't necessarily mean integrated Bluetooth. That could just be referring to their new DC600 Bluetooth adapter.

Rich, if you go back to the PDF document on Motorola's web site, it has changed. It no longer lists Bluetooth. Like I said, my printed copy has it but the one online doesn't.

You maybe accessing a copy of the document from your browser cache so you may want to clear it first.

I think I printed the copy of the A840 document on Monday or Tuesday. I went back to it to answer a question that someone had about Bluetooth and noticed the change. The real answer is to check the menu options on the phone.
