Cingular To Upgrade HSDPA To 7.2 Mbps Next Year
Right.

7.2 Mbps. Okay. When pigs fly.
Yeahhh, I did hear about that. They expect to have pigs flying by early next year.

I'll believe it when I see it, as no new data tech has lived up to promised speeds.

Much, don't be such a pessimist. First of all, no data tech offers promised speeds. They're called theoretical for a reason.
And at least with technologies offering higher theoretical speeds...the actually speeds are going to be higher than they are now, too. Maybe not quite 7.2 mbps, but considerably higher. That's logic for ya.
Companies love to tout theoretical limits because its easy to do yet has very little bearing on the real world.
Okay, so Cingular is doubling the speed of their network. Really? Are we going to see double the speed in the real world? Or are we just going to get some small increase that no one actually notices?
I don't really care about the theoretical speed limit. All that does is give the fanbois something to crow about. I want to know what actual speeds I can expect in the real world.
Is Rev A really worth it? Is 7.2 HSDPA actually an improvement?
