As a Nextel subscriber I think these phone flat out suck! I'm not talking about the qchat service, that seems to work well...but the construction of the Sanyo PRO 700 is a total pos. It's to light weight, to small, and lacks the appeal of a real Nextel phone.

I hope in the future Sprint rethinks their approach....the obvious goal is to get Nextel subscribers over to the qchat side, how is this little crappy Sanyo going to do that? I'm more impressed with the ic502/902 then these bogus phones. Maybe I'm wrong and ppl will find appeals with them, but I give them a failing grade.

Good review but throwing it in the grass, C'mon 😉

I beg to differ fellow soldier. I have the Pro 700 and it's a great phone. Sanyo's approach was to make a tough phone that does what a phone should and not all bells and whistles. The screens are great, the phone has a great feel. I have great call quality and DC quality. I think the keypad is a tad small but not a deal breaker. If your more impressed by the ic series phone I think you have some issues. Check out howardforums.com, most people love these new phones, so do most review sites.

Well glad you're enjoying yours. The ic902 is a much better phone compared to this lack luster PRO 700. To me it just feels to small and Nextel fans are not going to be impressed. The few dorks on hofo is not represent the masses, and by no means a gage of anything.... so I guess time will tell if they can get ppl to transition over to these phone. The sad thing is the Motorola coming out looks like a razr, good God sprint pull your head out... And why did they leave out on Demand? No thanks I will stick with my Moto i580 what a real Nextel phone should be! 🙂

I guess this phone will be hard to accept for existing Nextel customers. I mean its a sanyo, so it won't do something like power off all the time (i850) or just show the screen upside down for no good reason (i880) or just have really sucky coverage (every powersource phone) I guess people that have their Moto Nextel phones really like getting them worked on and can't handle a reliable phone like a Sanyo....

donkey_sauce's experience with Nextel phones is definitely not the norm.

I've never had any problem with any Nextel handset; 3-5 years of continuous hard use is not uncommon. Look in the dictionary under the word "bulletproof" and you're likely to find Nextel as one of the definitions. At least before Sprint got hold of them....

Nextel users are looking for efficient, no-frills business communications. If you want cheap service but horrible coverage and horrible audio quality, go to T-Mobile. If you want a genuine iPhone and don't care about network speed nor about audio quality, go to ATT. If you want pink, diamond-encrusted handsets, go to Verizon. If you want to listen to music or watch TV on your phone, go to Sprint. If you want si...
