im worried about Qualcomm tightening their noose on the wireless industry, and aquiring companies left and right to mass produce chips with new technologies that they acquire., they are strong-arming the other chip manufactures, this makes me nervous as qualcomm one of the largest producers of CDMA2000 chips(1xrtt, 1xEVDO) plus 3GSM chips(HSDPA, UMTS).

it is a worry but understand also that this is how businesses run... think of microsoft (tho qualcomm is not nearly as large)... the larger ur company the more control you have on the market...

I was told that Qualcom was the ONLY producer of CDMA chips. That's why Nokia was going to stop producing CDMA phones directly, because they are in court in several countries with anti trust and anti monopoly suits against Qualcom.

Nokia is no longer making CDMA phones, but instead they will put thier name on Pantech made CDMA phones... all Nokia GSM phones are made by Nokia.
