Review: Samsung Instinct

It's not that bad once you are used to it. If I'm entering a contact or something where I know there are multiple fields, I just leave it in the landscape mode.

Really it's something you get used to pretty quick.

Thanks. Currently I have a Palm PDA and a Samsung A900 with Sprint. I want to consolidate two devices into one. But I need to be very careful in choosing one because I am used to the Palm with all my contacts and calendar and Notes. I can flag memo entries as private which needs a password to access/view them on the Palm.

I've got the 755p and I'm not sure the instinct has enough pda-like features to replace it. I'm fine with the way the calandar and notes work on the instinct, but no private entries, and the current software selection is limited since it's new. Once more apps are developed then maybe it will replace the 755p.

This phone isn't a PDA, and neither is the iPhone or Glyde or any of these style of phones.

no, it's a music phone with a touchscreen and some organizer features. This is what is known as a "Feature Phone"

By a more loose definition (like the one on this site's glossary) you might be able to say that pretty much any feature phone is a PDA.

LOL. while i can appreciate your loyalty to sprint and our products, you should really open your eyes to reality. have you ever even played around on an iphone? it is running a full OS like any mac. in fact, it is MORE capable than most PDAs. i understand that you want to defend the instinct until the end but make sure you do so factually and in an educated manner so you won't lose credibility. the fastest way you can lose such credibility is by trying to [ignorantly] shoot down the undeniable genius of the iphone.

there's no loyalty, I've been looking for a new job for a little while. Hopefully in a few weeks, I won't have to deal with any of this crap anymore. It's a waste of time to put so much effort on a phone. I realize that now. IT'S JUST A PHONE.

I have NEVER stated that the iphone sucks. I've played around with a few different iphones, and while it is a cool product, I still would prefer my 755p. Having a real keyboard is more important to me for texting, so I'll probably keep that for a while. I just don't like the iPhone. It has nothing to do with what company I work for, or carrier I have.

The iPhone is a good phone (mostly) and the instinct is a good phone (mostly.)
I don't think the instinct will (or should) "kill" the iphone.

If they are not able to open/edit documents and spreadsheets, don't have the ability to mark memo/note entries as private, these devices are not PDA's, in my opinion.

I think document handling is a very important part of what sets a PDA apart from a smartphone or feature phone.

It really depends on who is categorizing the phones anymore. While some people still consider a PDA and smart phone to be different, others do not. Most people seem to either call a phone either a dumb phone (standard device) or a smart phone (PDA and smart phones). In this case the iPhone would be considered a smart phone.
