It's a simple samsung warranty code. The phone was manufactured in 2008, in the 5th month. So it's a pre-release model. There may be a very small number of handsets avaialable to the public with the 08.05 code, but significantly less than the 08.06.
Sometimes they change up the code with some letters but usually that's only if there are two hardware versions in the same month.
