Review: Samsung Instinct
A Few Words On Bias...
I am not loyal to one manufacturer, nor one carrier. I have no emotional ties to any device or service.
Each and every review we perform of phones is based on facts that arise during our experience with the phones we test. When we spot something good, we point it out, when we spot something bad, we call it out, too.
A lot of you are complaining that we compared the Instinct to the iPhone. Sprint positioned this device as an iPhone competitor, so using the iPhone as a basis for comparison is entirely natural.
You might want to remember that we were hard on Apple for the faults that the iPhone has. It has many.
No device, no manufacturer, no carrier has a perfect...

But you are being stubborn with this one. You have been honest in your experience with the device. You had issues with the touch screen. That's fine, to the best of your knowledge, it could be just the one in front of you, or it could be all. You didn't really state anything to this nature.
This leads the average consumer who is unaware that it could be just the one phone you have in front you to believe that all of them are bad. Hopefully they look at other reviews, but they may not.
As a respected source of information on mobile phones, it is your responsibility to provide an object point of view on a phone in your reveiws. By overlooking many of the important features of this...

"The new iPhone 3G will be more evenly matched, but even the Instinct gets points for its multimedia messaging, voice dialing and video recording."
"The Web browser wasn't quite as easy to use as we had hoped, the camera lacked editing features, and the Instinct's call and video quality were variable. However, even with those caveats, the Instinct remains a powerful, innovative cell phone with a loaded feature set and an appealing design."
"On the other hand, the Instinct doesn't suffer from the usability drawbacks that we saw on the Glyde. We rarely had to tap menu selections twice to register our choice. Also, the display recognized our selections when we to...

Your experience with the phone will not be the same as Phonescoop's, this just very well maybe your dream phone. Why bash the review, a better question would be: Why does everyone want this phone to do so well? I have my hopes up for this phone as well, but some people are calling out for blood after reading the review.
I just want a fair playing field. That's all I am asking for.
Vs.
It took several tries to get a response out of the touchscreen... not at all like the iPhone, which responded right away."

This wasn't a comparo, it was a review. And while it's impossible to not compare it to competition, it seems strange to not even note some of the features that actually make it a great phone.
I have noticed some things I don't like about it, but overall as a phone, I think it's one of the best phones sprint has had.
A review as complete as the CNET review is what I expected from an "In Depth" review here, but we were given what they posted. A hurried, and biased mess of slop. They did have some good info in there, but the omission of so much is what all the hubbub is about.
Thanks ojdidit84, for helping to keep this civilized.
