Verizon TV?!?!?!
It will be all live TV channels, like CNN and ESPN, etc. At the very least I do expect it to include the big networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX). It's best-suited for news and sports, so hopefully it will include true local channels, not just generic East/West feeds.

It best or what would be the point of all that work.
this is not going to be popular enough untill sprint wimax/mediaflo is let out. once that happens, i feel that calls will be on VOIP on wimax and have better range. all by next year ๐
When this launches you can expect to have 10-15 channels of Live TV and several more of On-Demand "clip-casts" similar to what you can currently get through VCast.
As for the handsets you can expect the service to launch with a handset from Samsung (Duh!) and one from LG. Shortly after you can probably expect something from Motorola as well but LG and Samsung are the 2 main launch partners with Verizon when it comes to new tech.

carriers don't make a profit on the sale of cell phones, and in fact usually sell them at a loss. all their profit comes from subscription fees.
you are already getting "free" stuff and improved technology in the sense that your free phone now has a color screen, an outside display, a camera, and possibly bluetooth and GPS.
It is totally unrealistic and obtuse of anybody to think that carriers should just start rolling out expensive additional network features for free.
If you would rather have them do that, they would have to raise the cost of everybody's voice plans to compens...
