New Samsungs Coming To Verizon With TV, QWERTY
Verizon's standardized interface

They should change the name of the company from Verizon to "McWireless". Its the presumption that people are too stupid to figure out how a cell phone works that's so annoying. Plus robbing the consumer of something cell phone companies know how to do in favor of something that the carrier doesn't know how to do. I want out!
"Hello, welcome to McWireless. May I take your handset order?"

I have a motorola v557 for cingular and personally i find Verizon's standard interface very hard to use.. it is very tedious and frustrating .. I am not a person who has trouble with phones and im pretty smart.. but to get to the pictures you have to go through the camera? that is ridiculous...

Well, it certainly lends itself to familiarity, but who wants to look at the same interface with each phone he purchases?
Then i got the samsung A690 (or whatever it was) and the standardized interface just looked like a cheap fisher price joke on the slick looking black phone. It really stood out as very ugly.
I couldn't even get into the secret menus and change the homepage. So its gone back. Now I have a new shiny VX8000 under the insurance, and waiting for somethign new.
its nice to know you'll get pretty much the same features but it really reduces some of the excitement due to getting a new phone.
I will glady have a standardized interface and a phone that gets a signal, over a pretty phone with animated manufacturer menus that makes a good doorstop anyday 🙂

Thats right because only verizon phones have a signal 🙄 they bitch because its raped of features, duh 🙄
Tell me about these RAPED fetures?
i havnt hears about too much of it.
Not enough that what ever feture it is matters?
List please!!!
😁
-Setting your own ringtones
-MP3 player
-Gaming (some VZW games are good but no option to add non-VZW games...or any other application for that matter)
-Text message setup
-Lack of a good IM client
-Voice dialing
-Calendar
-Inability to record more than 15 seconds of video
-and of course the bluetooth
text message setup?? WTF is that. I send a couple thoughsand a month, works just fine.
IM client? I have aol IM and..well it looks like AIM. whats the problem
voice dialing?? every phone has this, it works well for me.
Calander? pretty standard on all phones
most of the new phones can take more than 15 seconds. the samsungs (which this a thread for I might add) have been doing this for over a year.
games? I have no sympathy for this being an issue. These are literally little programs, putting non approved software on the phone is just asking for trouble.
setting your own ringtones and bluetooth are the only real problems, and both generate money for the company, so...

- Other phones have MUCH better text message setups than any VerizonUI phone
- The problems with the IM client are numerous. from the look and feel of it, to the fact that it uses non Verizon to Verizon text messages. I can continue with this one if you'd like but just look for yourself online.
-The voice dialing on my particular phone is terrible. Though, I'll admit, newer VZW phones have improved upon this
-The calendar is poorly set up and has no option to sync with Outlook or any other program. Actually, NOTHING can sync with ANYTHING on your PC because of VZW's business practices (aka greed)
-Point taken on the video though mine never has and...

yeah and having sold verizon a couple years back till last year... Having a standard UI is MUCH easier to explain to customers... trust me. its not a bad thing. i dont know why people always cry about the VZW UI. get over it.
Your tech savvy customer does not appreciate buying just another clone phone, pretty simple concept to understand.
Just about every computer you buy runs off the same UI.. why dont you cry about that?

Its called CHOICE < do you get it now? Before you could go into a verizon store and pick a certain manufacture and the UI would be different, and you might like one over the other< do you get it now? Each manufacture offered a different menu layout and you could choose which one you liked best, that goes back to the word CHOICE that i was talking about earlier are you with me? Some people enjoyed buying a new phone and learning a new UI 😳 yes its true, now verizon has taken your freedom to choose away, and some people don't like it. Most people on this site don't like starring >>...

Now MS is getting into cell phones...
Imagine the day MS is on allmost all cell phones and we look back and wish we had our verizon interface..
Point is verizon's interface is easy to use and nice to see when you get a new phone you all ready use to its operation.
Also the VZ interface is changing with each new gen phone.. the new flash UI's are a great steep in personalizing your UI...

Its like getting M$ to Limit the use of CD readers on their operating systems as a method of preventing illegal file sharing. or blocking your computer with a video capture card to be able to capture you highest score in certain game, or watch TV on the PC just to avoid copyright infringements for taping TV shows in your PC. do you get the point now?
Sounds like you're talking about Sony there. I wonder if Verizon is owned by Sony? 👀
