NTP Takes Aim At Palm
Someone said it best in reference to the prior NTP suit
"When I grow up, I wanna be a patent squatter."
I don't recall who said that, but it was quite appropriate.
Who ARE these guys? 😕 Next thing ya know, they'll be sending takedown notices to webmail sites, and annoucing they're suing over that too. 🙄

Apparently Good and a few others have licensing agreements with NTP to avoid this crap. Blah - no telling how long this will be dragged out. Does Palm have the pockets that RIM does?

i would assume yes. but why the heck would you wanna sue a manufacturer that offers a 3rd party option of email. 😕
waht patents could they have infringed on. the email on my blackberry is PUSH, the email on my treo is PULL. come on NTP get it together. it was nice to see RIM in a bunch but now its getting old.

No, NTP was awarded $53 million. They didn't like that result, and so appealed.
After the appeal failed, they settled out of court for $612 million. Presumably to avoid having to shut down Blackberry service, because the initial ruling that accompanied the $53 million award would have required them to shut it down.
