Nokia build quality

Does anyone else have an issue with the build quality of some Nokia's as of the past couple of years? Specifically the plastics used.

6682 was a good example of a 'higher end' phone I thought could have had tighter build tolerances.

I enjoy Nokia's and hope N75 is a solid phone.

I agree with most of what you said. I had high hopes for the 6682. I'm definitely going to wait for the second or third shipments of the N75's. N95 should be right around the corner. I can't wait for that one!!!

I have an 6682 and it's great I had little trouble with it, however I don't beleive it was one built to be thrown from a building or moving car. Might I suggest phone insurance.

i have a nokia 3220 (GSM) and the build itself is pretty durable, except for the little plastic plates that were placed to cover the LEDs on both sides of the phone, i just had to scratch off all the rubber coating and that was it, the phone looked even better.

I thought the N95 was for Europe only.

So far it is, it's not even quad band!!! Even if it was quad band, I doubt Cingular would take a phone that sophisticated!!!

Thank you, so why are people waiting and drooling over it?
What is your spin on the N75?

01. The screen size
02. Buil-Stereo speakers
03. 2MP Camera (Actual printable resolution!!!)
04. 40mb's of internal memory!!! More than 10mb's

I actually don't intend on getting this for myself, I intend on getting it for my girlfriend.

I would be absolutley SHOCKED if a mobile phone as sohpisticated as the N95 was made available from Cingular anytime soon!!!!!

Really the only two things that are dissapointing about this N75 is it doesn't have HSDPA, rather the slower UMTS!!! That's dissapointing, and it doesn't have stereo bluetooth. Other than those two big things, I think the N75 is a great handset, especially the screens 2.4 inch size, and it's 40mb's of internal memory is nice also.

I know the recently discontinued Nokia 6255 for metroPCS and other CDMA carriers was built using some questionable plastics. Particularly near the hinges...under regular day to day use cracks often formed near said hinges. A friend of mine received two new phones because of this problem.

Ive had my LG for two years now and no cracks just like the day I bought it. Motos on the other hand fall apart like a Ford.

. . . Well, not quite 😉 , but relative to the durability of the majority of consumer electronics, Nokia phones might as well be titanium. My 6682's camera cover is a bit loose after almost a year of constant use (I use my camera a lot) and being shoved in & out of my pocket. I don't have even the slightest qualms about it's build quality. Granted, the 6682 had it's share of software problems, but every Nokia I've had (I'm on #5), and those of all my cow-orkers, and with most of the customers I dealt with - none had quality/reliability issues with Nokias. I kept an informal tally of what phones/brands got referred to warrantee exchange most often, and Nokia was always the least referred. In my current dept, I've had telecom managers...

I agree with the above post.
Nokia and build quaulity go together.
I have had several Nokias, dropped them on concrete with no issues.
I have had the back cover, battery and the phone go flying in pieces, after dropping some models... just put it back together and go on like nothing happened.

I have played and demo'ed the N75 and it's a great device. The quality, to me, seems better then the 6682. The hinge is sturdy. And though it's thin, it still has some weight to it so you don't feel like you have a toy in your hand.

So, I think you will be pleased with this device.
